There's gotta be some other Cyclone fans that fell into the Serial podcast spell over the past three months. Now that today was the last episode, curious what people thought of it. First off, the fact that a podcast could contain my interest the way it did is impressive. What a great series and looking forward to the next one.

So...who killed her?

As I suspected all along, there was just no way to definitively wrap up that investigation within 12 episodes. My gut is that Adnan is innocent, mostly because Jay seems like a big fat liar. But it doesn't seem like Jay killed her either, so I really have no idea. Maybe it's that serial rapist they just threw out there in the last episode.

I have thought Jay seemed to know WAYYY too much detail about everything for him not to do it. How can he recall everything so well and everyone else kinda sorta remembered stuff. Gut has told me it was Jay from the second episode or so. However I agree with today's ep that there is a LOT of ****** bad luck on Adnan's side if in fact he didn't do it. I don't get how it could be a serial killer. If any of Jay's story is true, then how does he know all that stuff? Doesn't make sense.

It seems like there's so many inconsistencies to be able to say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Adnan did it. Jay's timeline of events, phone tower records, the phantom phone booth thing, the timeline of getting from the school to Best Buy for both Adnan and Hae, people suddenly recanting their testimony, Jay getting the lawyer from the prosecuting attorney.

I agree with Sarah Koenig that the state had enough reasonable doubt to acquit Adnan of the murder. A really good lawyer could have gotten him off.

I listed to the podcast several months after it came out, and am really glad Adnan is getting a new trial. I also am torn on Jay - he seems too likely.

Did anyone ever listen to season 2? The story didn't seem as interesting to me, so I haven't, but I'm curious.

I did and found it fascinating. She even interviewed someone from the Taliban.
Bergdahl's life up until that was very off. I had no idea he tried to serve in the Coast Guard previously.

That's my thought. No idea who killed her, but I do know there is not enough evidence against Adnan to lock him away for his lifetime.

The original prosecutor was also a scumbag. He put Adnan's lawyer at a disadvantage by not respecting discovery, and then apparently deliberately giving her bad cell phone documentation.

He deserves the new trial, but I can't see how a new prosecutor puts together a case where the star witness would be proven a liar based on the coached testimony that they manufactured using bad cell phone or misinterpreted cell phone data.

If he ends up getting a new trial, I fully expect the state to go after an Alford plea.

This case still fascinates me along with the recent rehashing of the OJ trial. It kind of shows you both sides of the criminal justice system. I am not sure that Adnan is innocent, but there was enough reasonable doubt that I don't understand how he was convicted. Islamophobia played a negative role in the case. On the OJ case I can't fathom how he didn't get convicted. They used racism to positively affect the case for the defendant.

There would be an interesting story that could be written comparing the two.

2.5 years behind but YOLO.

Just finished listening to this.

Will start season 2 tomorrow.

My thoughts: Adnan is guilty

1) They were great friends. Upon finding out his 2 week old ex is missing, Adnan decides to get high. This seems...weird.

2) Personal believe - psychopaths admit many bad things they've done to cover up the worst. So when Adnan was open, I think it was his way of trying to build trust.

3) The janitor definitely knows something. Unfortunate that nothing came out of that.

4) I bet the track coach hasn't missed a day of attendance since.

My theory was that Adnan knew what happened but didn't do it. For example, he knew Jay did it and may have even helped bury the body, but he didn't kill her.

And FWIW, season 2 wasn't as good but very worth the listen. A soldier going AWOL to the Taliban is mind boggling.

About 20 minutes in and very interested in Season 2.

It's funny because I don't remember anything about a video surfacing but I remember a lot of attacks on Obama because of this.
