I like looking at statistics in which you have to dig a little deeper to tell the whole story. Not all of these are, but not all of these are going to be very well published.

Wins against tournament teams
Iowa State: 9
Iona: 0

Losses in which the team was leading or tied at any point in the final 5 minutes (counting OT):
Iowa State: 7
Iona: 0

Losses in which the team was never leading or tied in the final 5 minutes, but within one possession:
Iowa State: 2 (not counting counting the last OU game - buzzer beater)
Iona: 4

Opponent record of teams they beat this year, subtracting the games the team beat them (i.e. if ISU beat Kansas with an overall 30-4, then we'd subtract the game ISU beat them and we would use 30-3. If they beat them twice, it would be 30-2):

Iowa State: 324-242 (.572 win pct)
Iona: 170-212 (.445)

Opponent record of teams they lost to this year, subtracting the games the team lost to them (similar as above):
Iowa State: 179-74 (.708)
Iona: 196-117 (.626)

Average margin of loss:
Iowa State: 5.5
Iona: 9.7

Iona played two tournament teams this year - Oregon State and Tulsa. They lost to Oregon State by 20 and to Tulsa by 9. However they were losing to Tulsa by 24 points with 5:07 left in the game and cut it to 9 by the end of the game.

In no way am I saying Iona is bad, but statistically speaking these at least to me, are a few interesting stats I collected. They're a pretty good team (I've been following them on and off for awhile. Like their style and have for a handful of years) who could beat a lot of teams this year. And as we all should know, none of us should ever be cocky about who we face - not only is it the tournament, but things happen during this time which is why I love it so much. Even if a team could beat you 9 times out of 10, all it takes is that 1 time to beat them and put an end to their season.
