Our offense and defense look like they don't even practice on the same teams

Been typing and deleting for a minute now trying to figure out how to word that. But that's what it is.

The defense look and play like killers. The vets are fantastic. Anthony Johnson is a clear leader. Will McDonald gets held by 2 guys at the same time every play. Long time developmental guys like Tavon Kyle do well even though they aren't superstars. The newer guys caught on quick. Tampa and Purchase have improved a ton. MJ Anderson is already unstoppable. McLaughlin is showing some stuff.

ST just straight up doesn't know what they're doing most of the time. No matter who's returning they don't seem to know when to catch and return, when to fair catch, or when to let it go. None of our kickers or punters have ever really radiated confidence other than Mevis, who was only here 1 year. That's obviously not good

Then we get to the offense. Remember all the program vets on the defense? Our guys on offense are the total opposite of them. Easton Dean has been here forever now and is a non factor. So is Sean Shaw most of the time. Deon Silas has been in the program for a few years now and he plays like a freshman. Hunter Dekkers is a total headcase. All our offensive linemen suck. Darren Wilson still apparently is on the roster. Noel has talent but doesn't know how to use it. He has no hands, no field awareness, and is the main offender of the returner issues.

The only guy on our offense who plays like our defense is X. And he's hyperventilating on the sidelines at the end of games. Man can physically not do any more than what we ask of him right now.

So, how on earth does a split like that happen? It's been like this for a while but just not to the extreme is has been at now. In the past we've had a few killers on offense but the drop off was obvious from someone like Kolar to Dean or Monty to Johnny Lang or Sheldon Croney.

The only conclusion I can come to is that there's someone who doesn't participate in defense who does in offense or vice versa. There's just not any other reason I can think of as to why the 2 units look so different. Our defense is so confident, talented, and together. Our offense looks unconfident, afraid, and I hate to say it, but they don't play like there's any sort of culture there, let alone the 5 star one they're supposed to have.

Someone help me make it make sense. Campbell is a smart dude. There's no way he hasn't seen this too.

A fantastic example of how difference our offense and defense are:

Myles Purchase, Jaylen Noel, Deon Silas, and Beau Fryler are all from the same recruiting class. One duo plays like Big 12 players. The other does not, at all

I think the offensive coaches are definitely letting the team down and feel sorry for the players

Its just stunning to me that it's every single one of them, except whoever does the RBs and TEs. We gotta clean house. New coordinator, WRs and OL coach are musts. Our RB and TE coaches can stick around a bit longer.

Remember the scene in full metal jacket when everyone beats private Pyle with bars of soap? I imagine Heacock wanting to do this to Manning.

It’s crazy how mentally polar opposite they are. The defense oozes confidence, killer instinct, intelligence, straight up “I’m better than you” mentality. The offense is mentally fragile, unfocused, undisciplined. crumbles immediately in any big time situation

You would think there would be some crossover simply because they practice against each other. Like, is the defense just kicking the offense's *** in practice every day? Shouldn't iron sharpen iron?

Half of the Top 10 would trade their starting defense for Iowa State's starting defense and Heacock. However, not a single M.A.C. team would trade their offense for Iowa State's offense and Manning. That is the conundrum.
