I've had an 18- and 17-year-old cat. It isn't easy when it ends, but positive memories endure.
Embrace the heck out of the time you have with her.

My wife and I folded about a year ago and let our mini Goldendoodle, Otz, sleep in bed with us, namely because he just didn’t want to sleep in the kennel anymore. It’s kind of funny he’ll sleep with his head on a pillow sometimes- probably because he thinks he’s human or something
Your goldendoodle looks almost exactly like ours. Same color and same smallish size. And ours is definitely at least 70% human. Our other dog is a grayish/blackish shih tzu with white paws, neck and mouth area. He's great too, but not nearly as humanish.
As much as I care about my dogs, I have done them no favors with their eating habits. I don't know when I let things go off the rails, but their diet largely consists of people food. They get scrambled eggs with a little syrup, chopped deli turkey, half a burger each when I grill burgers, omelets and lots of other stuff that is probably terrible for them. They aren't obese, but still not good I'm sure. My wife gets so mad at me and always says "you made them this way" which is completely true. They are so food spoiled that they walk away from Farmer's Dog dog food. I really need to talk to our veterinarian the next time that I take them in for shots. I'm guessing that she won't be thrilled with me either.
This is ********* the Wonder Pup, border collie - Aussie mix (his father was a sailor), about a year ago, right after his life was saved by the miracle workers at Hixson-Lied who performed emergency surgery to repair a perforated gut ulceration caused by arthritis meds given by his local vet. Apparently, border collies (and border collie mixes) do not tolerate that drug.
Those ISU docs, interns, students and even clerical staff were brilliant, gave expert care, called us twice a day to give updates, and were just TOP NOTCH. Yes, it cost a lot, but we were relieved to have had the money to save him. We are extremely grateful to the blood donor dogs as well, since our boy had to have a blood transfusion a few hours after surgery which also helped to save his life.
Long story short, there is nothing more true than the love and care of an animal, both given and received.
It's crazy. Yes she has had some issues here and there but for almost being 17 she's still remarkably healthy. Truly blessed.
