That was stated by the AD on the radio show regarding last Saturday’s meets.

He went on to talk about how if the football coach left for greener pastures how we should be ecstatic for him. Kind of an about face on how he treated Cael when he left.

Didn’t think that should get overlooked and swept under the rug.

I mean people grow/change and learn from experiences. JP has stated he would change some of the things he did when Chizik left.

I'm not sure how you can even begin to compare the two scenarios. JP did everything he could financially but Iowa State simply didn't have the money. I don't know why it's so hard for some of you guys to understand that.

Yeah I don’t know how Dresser could hear that and not be pissed. There was one other negative comment that I’m blanking on. Way to promote athletics Jamie! The guy who watches cross country meets thinks wrestling is boring.

Not exactly sure.
So delete that sentence about Cael. Clearly, his comments indicate how he feels about wrestling. Which was my bigger point
We had no money then. Our coach now is a top 5 paid coach getting us top 15 results. He supports wrestling. Even I can admit (as a wrestling fan) it has limited support as a sport in general. It needs to find ways to push excitement and bring people in. Honestly, many of its fans push more people away than attract them.

I hate to be the thread police but this is about Jamie’s expressed distaste for wrestling, not Cael.

I think we already know how he feels about wrestling. Is it a surprise?

For the record he shouldn't have said it - it's disrespectful to the coaches and athletes in the program.

Yeah, shame on Jamie for creating a special position for Carl Sanderson at Iowa state while he earned the credentials necessary to be head coach. He must hate wrestling and Cael, blah blah blah.

"After graduating from ISU in 2002, Sanderson spent 2003 and 2004 as a special assistant in the athletic department at Iowa State before joining the ISU coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2004-05. He was promoted to the assistant head coach position the next year and then became the Cyclones' head coach for the 2006-07 season."

Shame on Jamie for helping create the regional wrestling center that I get a monthly email about. He must still hate wrestling

Is this something he said on last night's radio show that wasn't in Stansbury's transcribed comments?

Heads in the sky
Wow, really touched a nerve of the JP mob
Completely support the current staff and what they are doing. Sorry it’s hard for some to understand why ISU wrestling is where it is, though.

im hardly a JP fan boy, but where would have Iowa State got the money to even remotely somewhat compare to the investment penn state was making at the time?

Pollard didn't start at ISU until fall of 2005, so the special positions would have been created by, and Cael would have worked for, old whats-his-name.

Except they don't.

If he hated wrestling as much as you apparently want him to, he wouldn't be there front-and-center at every dual.

And the comments you want to roast him for were said while laughing. Keep grinding that axe, though.

I think the pressure of current Campbell sweepstakes is getting to Pollard. He is making unforced errors in these interviews. I sympathize to a point, but this is also what he's paid to do. IMO, he should step back from the mic and recompose himself.

I am somewhat shocked and disheartened by many of the responses. From the lack of reading comprehension which was pointed out, to the total head in the sand mentality. It’s hard to keep defending Cyclone fans to the squawkeyes when I hear this. Then you have posters saying thing like “by all accounts”. Got some personal experience?
Pollard is paid quite well to say the right things
Why do you defend us to Hawk fans? Most people don't like wrestling, that's a fact. Thankfully we have a coach that can raise money and has the CRTC, but it's not a sport that raises enough revenue for most to care. And JP has done more for this university's AD than most anyone before him. All that said I can't wait to be in Hilton on Sunday.
