Good stuff!

One comment I have is on the preaching about being happy for Montgomery when he leaves.

Has there been more than a handful of fans saying they’ll be upset?

Every post or tweet I’ve seen had been completely supportive of his decision with a bunch saying he’d be stupid to stay.

There will be some when Montgomery declares, probably not many on this site because most of us pay attention enough to know how obvious his decision is.

But if Butler declares the bad takes and fans will be coming out of the woodwork.

Nice to see a prominent analyst put Butler at #4 on the draft list. I think Butler can make the improvements he needs to make on an NFL roster as well as our roster. It would be nice to keep him another year, but not holding my breath.

David leaves, Hakeem stays is my prediction. Would be happy with any combination because of the awesome memories and will never fault someone for going after the money while they still can.

Unfortunately, I think both slip if they go out this year without knowing their combine numbers. David mid 3rd round and Hakeem in the early 4th round.

I wont fault them for leaving, but also hope they stay. The one thing that could make them stay is there is a huge difference in money between rounds and picks. So moving up that board means a lot. They both could improve their stock a lot next year. Not many have either in the first round, staying could put them both in the top of the first round which would mean millions even 10s of millions to their contract.

I agree that HB could move up dramatically, but wonder about DM. It seems the trend lately for NFL teams is to devalue the RB position, and go with the "RB by commitee" approach. The Rams used Gurley almost exclusively when healthy, and the Redskins relied heavily on A. Peterson, but most teams have started to follow the Patriots lead and go with the back that's hottest, or matches up best against the defense they're facing, IMO. That could benefit all backs by extending their careers, and that could mean millions in the long run.

David runs well between the tackles, but doesn't have breakaway speed, but is very good catching the ball out of the backfield, so that should improve his stock...

I personally think that David would be a great fit with the Titans! He and Derrick Henry would be one hell of a 1-2 punch!!

Him and Chubb on the Browns would be awesome as well

Unless Butler becomes more explosive and improves his hands, he should go. I don’t see another year greatly improving his separation ability and it’s likely another year of drops costs him money.

Is it weird to want DM to go?
He absolutely deserves it.

On a different note, I think it'll force our offense to get more creative, not having the bell cow type that can candle 20+ carries a game. I loved our gameplan and play calling against Okie State when we didn't have Dave in Purdy's debut. Texas first half was a little different story...

I just think that from what I have seen most people have them both somewhere in the #4-#6 players in their respective positions. This could easily put them down a couple rounds, another year "could" put them in the #1-#2 spot in there positions. Which could bump them up considerably.
Again, I don't know if that is a good enough chance for them to stay, but they might.
I will not fault them for going to get paid. They both have put their time in here.
It would be nice though having them back again though, but they deserve a paycheck.
