This has been discussed many times. Some strongly feel that what we say on this message board can negatively or positively affect a potential recruit. Some strongly feel that recruits are smart enough to take such comments with a grain of salt. I'm cursious to see the percentages of fans who feel each way.

What is your opinion?

Answer yes if you believe it can play some sort of factor in coming to Iowa State.

Answer no if you beleive it does not play a factor at all in coming to Iowa State.

This poll is too black and white. There really needs to be an option that says "Yes, but only to the extent that it would reinforce doubts the recruit already had".

I said yes. It plays a factor, but in the grand scheme, I'd say a very small factor.

This reminds me of those political polls I always get in the mail, where all the questions are designed to evoke the answer desired by the polltakers...and then, to add insult to injury, they ask you for money at the very end. At least you aren't asking for money.

Let's pretend in a fantasy world that this message board was a legit recruiting problem, what would be a solution? The people who paid money for this aren't just going to shut it down and you can't ban people from discussing men's basketball. Do you make it a pay site with a small fee that doesn't break your bank but maybe keeps some of the rift raft away?

I don't know what else you could do. Or Greg McDermott could do his job and win some games.

If this message board did not exist... and a different result of a player commitment would never occur due to this fact. Then vote no.

If it only reaffirms what somebody would have picked anyway. Vote no.

All recruits have doubts unless they only have one choice.

What I'm saying is that it only accelerates issues, I don't think the end result is all that different in most situations.

I can't imagine a scenario where a recruit is going to come to ISU and changed his mind based on a message board, or vice versa.

A big factor, probably not but I do think that negativity can have a slight affect on it sometimes. I'm sure recruits read these boards as do current players and coaches. Negativity on message boards sure as heck won't help at all I'm sure but positive stuff will never hurt.

You obviously have a very limited imagination.

Can we also get yes or no polls with the following questions?

Can a coach's won-loss record have an influence on a recruit's decision?

Can a coach's inability to retain players, including starters, have an influence on a recruit's decision?

Can a coach's inability to win in his conference over a 4-year period influence a recruit's decision?

I tried to be as fair as possible... but I can admit I have bias. Please let me know how I can word it to be more fair and I will make whatever change I can.

This. I voted yes, because I think it may play a role, as I have said all along. I promise you there is not a single recruit in America who will say there final decision on the school they will attend was based off what takes place on that schools message board.

I agree they can play a factor, but it a microcosm of the factors that go into the decision.

Well, in the end, the argument we are trying to settle is that if "CF's negativity" makes us less attractive to recruits, so perhaps it should be included that if you think that CF is JUST AS, or LESS hurtful than other school's message boards, then vote no as well.
