I like our uniforms and I believe they do not look just like USC.
Only problem I see here is money. Oregon has Nike money for their closet full of uniforms. Us...not so much.
Why no Irish on the ND uniforms, Why no Hurricanes on the Miami uniforms, Why no Seminoles on the Florida State uniform, why no Nittany Lion on the Penn State uniform, why no Bulldog on the Georgia uniform, why no Commodore on the Vanderbilt uniform....you get my point.
They wanted the "STATE" to "pop" on the helmet not the "I". No mistake...it was purposefully done.

Honestly though, I love the unis, but would prefer red pants with red tops, but I'm in the minority there.
I absolutely hate this arguement. It's completely ridiculous. If we are getting confused with Illinois State, Idaho State, or Indiana State then the logo is the least of our problems. :skeptical: There are plenty of those examples in college football but no one else is confused by it. Look at the image below. Is it Ohio State, Oklahoma State, or Oregon State? If you don't know that answer to that then you don't really follow college sports anyway, so who cares.
As to the original question of our uniforms I love that we finally look like a college football team and have been dropped from the 20 worst uni's list, but I hate that we look so much like USC. Originally ISU was looking at giving us gold pants (like Notre Dame gold) with the red stripes down the side. They had a picture of Brett Meyer wearing it. I thought it looked pretty tight.
I love the uniforms and hope we keep them for a long time to come. I love the "I-State" logo. It's simple and classic looking.
Exactly, we could have a Rorschach splotch on our helmet, if we won, everyone would know what it stood for.
After watching USC highlights this weekend, I noticed several things that make our uniforms different.
1) Different shade of red. USC is closer to maroon than we are.
2) The "Iowa State" across the front.
3) The double stripe.
I think that they are similar to USC, and a gold helmet would have eased that quite a bit. That said, I still love them. Best unis we've probably ever had. The throwbacks a few years ago were great, but not enough cardinal. Not even close in that regard. When you look at other schools, we aren't any more similar to USC than Ok State is to Texas, Arkansas is to Oklahoma, or Iowa is to the Steelers.

I live in cedar rapids (hawkville) at the game thurs I heard some peeps say they didn't like our uniforms? I love our uniforms. Do people not like them because Gene was part of picking them out? I hope coach P.R. Likes them, I would be happy if we kept these uni's for years to come, although they do look like USC'swhat r ur thoughts?

I like that uniforms. There are many teams going back to the throw back jerseys. I hope that we keep them around for awhile.
I think a nice quick and easy change to the uni look to differeniate us from USC would be to change the face mask color from gray to our gold. Like the Redskins helmets.
