HE HAS OHIO STATE ON THE MIND! HE NEEDS TO REMEMBER THAT HE'S AT IOWA STATE!!!! MY TAXES PAY HIS SALARY!!!!!

Needs to be a bingo type of thread where all the trends of things said throughout the season are tallied.

That way when the 'Should ISU have fired CPR?' or 'Mac never lost a game like that' threads start up after a tough loss in YEAR 3, we can just merge all.

This year could have some growing pains.

We could be just as good/better and still start out 2-4.

vs. SDSU -- W
@ Iowa -- L
vs. OU -- L
vs. Akron -- W
@ TCU -- L
@ OSU -- L

Things lighten up after that, but, dang.

Well, this time of year you just have to say 3 - 0. I know that is what the coaches and the players are planning on. So why not us?

Shoot! Nebraska fans and media think they can go 10 - 2 this year as their best case scenario. I mean, if there is a time to be optimistic, it is now, before we even see the team do anything other than interviews and drills. So I'm all in: 3 -0 to start!

Sold! 3 - 0!!

2-1.

Oklahoma will remember. I'm guessing their coaching staff has been reminding them persistently and unpleasantly.

Here's hoping I am wrong and we are 3-0.
Spot on, I have no doubt Oklahoma's staff wants revenge. My biggest fear is that the referees will feel the same way; see Kansas State 2017.

The Iowa and OSU series both need to flip some time.

I think the overall team will be better to start than last year.

...and then WVU, who some have as a Top 10 team heading into next season.

We could start 2-5 yet finish 4-1 to go 6-6. :(

Not a comment on the team -- I love our squad -- but the schedule to start the year is so brutal just finally going through it like that and it hitting me.

I've said for years that if ISU were even decent, they'd be fine vs. this daunting schedule that was always the reason for them having an average or horrible record.

I would have swapped some wins last year, but it proved that if they were somewhat decent they could come out with a decent record and even some huge wins to boot, and they could have had a few more. Case in point: the reason they beat TCU was because they played more fundamentally sound.

If the Big 12 were that great, they'd go undefeated every year in bowl games, which they don't.

Add some depth and fundamentals, which they have, and ISU can win vs. the schedule this year.

Edit: those years that ISU was struggling to win in the Big 12, they were also struggling vs. FCS teams. There's a reason both of those things happened. Those seasons weren't bad because of the schedule. They were bad because ISU started the season off by getting worked by FCS schools and sucked.

We will be as good as our offensive line. But with that being said, we will be improved at every position group with the exception of kicker and maybe punter. We will be as motivated in Iowa City as OU is when they come here. But I don't think either of those two teams are going to be any better than they were last year.

I'm looking for a game against SDSU where we throw less than 20 times and run all over them. If that happens put me down for 3-0.

Were we as good as our offensive line last year?!

I don't mean to be combative but seriously, why do you care? You even checked backed? Haha. A little OCD perhaps? :)

Will it help you sleep better tonight to know that this technically fits the definition of a poll?

Definition of poll
1: head
: the top or back of the head
b : nape
: the broad or flat end of a striking tool (such as a hammer)
4a (1) : the casting or recording of the votes of a body of persons
(2) : a counting of votes cast
b : the place where votes are cast or recorded —usually used in plural
  • at the polls
: the period of time during which votes may be cast at an election
d : the total number of votes recorded
  • a heavy poll
: a questioning or canvassing of persons selected at random or by quota to obtain information or opinions to be analyzed: a record of the information so obtained

3-0
Standard raised.
Blowout wins against SDSU and hawks. Sensational game at the Jack against OU.
hawks better get used to the new normal. CMC led ISU football! I can see the hawks wanting to drop the game soon.

I would agree with most of what you said but no other conference had 80% of thier teams in bowl games and only the ACC out performed with 53% of their teams winning games whereas the big 10 and BIG 12 had 50% of their overall teams win bowl games.
