My kid is a die hard and wouldn't miss a game. A lot of the students seem to be bandwagoners and probably didn't go because of the three game skid. I think we will be a lot better next year despite big losses in Kane and Ejim, depending on how Saturday works out I suppose. That may affect student attendance next year.

Being good doesn't mean there won't be a three game losing streak next year. Three of the Final Four teams last year had three game skids during the regular season. What you're saying about bandwagon fans might be true, regardless, but losing three games is a really, really crappy reason to not go to a game. Especially a year after Louisville won the NC.

I'm starting to think that your kid, sadly, is the exception. It's starting to seem really clear that a good portion of the student's just don't give a **** about going to games or giving the team a good homecourt advantage. And I guess that's fine, you can't force them to have fun and make good memories the way those of us who post on here did when we were in school.

The thing that really sucks the most about it is that they DO care about being seen at the "big" games, and in the process they are royally ******* things up for the kid that cares enough to camp out for days to get in or the kid that makes it to every game he can, but then has an inconveniently scheduled exam. It seems every step JP's made to accommodate and account for the bandwagon students has hurt those kids, and that sucks.

^^TEddie and MNCyGuy, I pretty much agree and think this is why some kind of loyalty system for those who go to all or most games would be preferable. My kid likes to buy the AllSports because it is a good deal when you go to as many events as he does. But with class until 5:00 before the Iowa game and until 4:00 before KU, he wound up barely getting in and standing. I looked to see if I could get him another ticket just for those games, but they were pricey.

Also, on a sort of related note, he texted me during halftime of Oklahoma game to say two guys sitting near him spent the entire game ragging about Georges, how overrated and unathletic he is. Son was trying to control his rage. Of course, Georges put up 27.

Did you son somehow get displaced up in to section 201? Swear we had the same guys behind us.

I think some kind of loyalty system would be nice. I'd like it to be lenient enough so that someone could miss one or two games per non-con and conference season without being severely penalized and also reward students who have bought tickets in consecutive years, among other concerns. But I think (well, I hope, at least) we can all agree that there is no perfect system without its drawbacks. Just a matter of which one we (err, Pollard) want to go with.

^^^:smile:TEddie, he was sitting near the band (which is another annoyance at times for him). I don't know why fans like to just ride on one of our guys. Bothered my son even more because Georges has taken the initiative to talk to him several times on campus, and he really likes the guy as well as his basketball heart.

Well, there goes my suggestion that he should master a brass instrument before next season if he wants a guaranteed seat. Worked for me :)!

:laugh:He actually has and plays it in some of the other ISU bands. He just doesn't like distraction from the chants, although he says it isn't quite as bad this year. Poor boy just takes his ISU basketball very seriously.

Someone behind me last game apparently would call him GeorgES when a play didn't work and George when it did, like he had to earn the right to his name.

Without a doubt, that was annoying all game long. Like you'd expect, that wasn't the only genius moment coming from there.

I thought it was Killing In The Name Of, but I agree, that was pretty awesome. The new director has a good ear for stand tunes.

Yeah it was "Killing in the Name." I noticed because I didn't think that was a song I'd ever hear from a pep band.
