It's not looking as good this week as it was last week, but I was curious about how likely it is that we end up in Des Moines so I made this website that compares net rankings with distance to host sites and guesses where teams will end up.

My future plans for the site include
  • Allow switching between other ranking systems (bracket matrix / kenpom / bpi / etc)
  • Adding in logic for stuff like not allowing hosts to be in the host site / top 4 seed conference teams must go in different regions
  • Show full pod matchups / build out a full bracket based on the rankings
  • Allow schools not in the top 64 to be added to the rankings
  • Make it work better for mobile

Anyways, I thought Cyclone Fanatic would appreciate it and maybe have some other good ideas on how to improve it. Also if anybody has a better name for the site I'd love to hear it. nothingbut.net was already taken!

It basically comes down to Iowa State, Kansas and Kansas State for two spots in Des Moines. Otherwise it is likely Columbus or Albany.

Nice work! I was jsut looking at the sites today and thought it's pretty likely we get Kansas, Kansas State, or Marquette in Des Moines.

Alabama and Tennessee in Birmingham
UCLA and Arizona in Sacramento
Purdue and Xavier in Columbus
Virginia in Greensboro

Beyond that I'm not really sure. Denver and Albany looks to be where alor of the 4 and 5 seeds will end up.

Texas and Houston aren't really close to anything this year so they'll both probably be shipped to one of the sites without many regional teams.

If teams like Uconn or Providence end up as a 3 seed they would probably go to Albany.

You would think so, but there are a lot of moving parts. Baylor for instance has Des Moines as their second closest region, and they're likely to stay behind both Houston and Alabama. Texas goes Birmingham > Denver > Des Moines, and are also unlikely to get Birmingham, so we should cheer for Texas to finish ahead of teams on the west coast.

ISU could end up as #9 and ahead of all the other nearby schools and still not get DSM if the committee completely bases things on closest remaining region to the next best team. 1675288743160.png

There is also a Sacramento region as well. Would expect UCLA and Arizona/Gonzaga to end up there.
