Watching the spread for this game is giving me a good feeling. There is a lot of big money coming in on ISU for this game, somebody out there must know something I don't because based on what I saw Saturday I thought we'd lose by two scores for sure. Now I'll say 24-20 Iowa but we'll have a shot to win at the end.

I wonder if the spread is trend based? ...such as ISU has been blown out 2 years in a row, and is due to have a close one.

Vegas can be wacky like that.

IMO, they're being more like the opposite of wacky. People in this thread picking us to lose by 20+ are the wacky ones. I hope.

The talent margin between teams is still vastly too great.

We hopefully can win off turnovers and special teams play.

Has ISU released a 2 deep for the game this Saturday yet? I've heard a lot of friends saying that ISU was missing quite a few guys this last weekend due to injuries and suspensions. Are many of them coming back for the Iowa game this week?

All of them are back. We lost Maggit(our starting DE though).

We've never had great depth, and the position that seemed to perform the worst on the OL was Hick's replacement. I expect the OL to be more than serviceable against Iowa.

My impression is still that our offensive problems were mainly QB related. I've only had time to watch the replay through part of the second quarter, and it seems to me that Jantz missed on two easy TDs in the first quarter alone. Those were not hard throws, and I'm attributing it to first game jitters. The passing game will be harder against Iowa, but I think we'll have more success running the ball than we had against UNI.

ISU 17-Iowa 10.

Since I can't make it back for the game, I'm assuming we will win and I'll be mad I couldn't come back.
That being said, 27-17 Iowa wins.
However, if we end up winning, you can all thank me.

We lose, 26-34. We show improvement, but our depth and talent issues (compared to successful programs) are enough to due us in.

Iowa State only scores 17 because Kirk is kind and puts in his second string and the rest of his backups, sorry but we looked bad on saturday and I'm going to be realistic about this game

herman and jantz better get their shyt together. so better rhoads. i know were not allowed to bad talk rhoads, but he hasn't gotten this team ready to play in this game at all the last 2 years. It was like we were totally asleep!

Maybe he doesn't put any emphasis on this game? Just looking ahead to conference schedule? I know that sounds crazy..

I can see this. Maybe he doesn't want this to feel like our "Superbowl"...but I think it's about time he starts putting a fire underneath these players butts.

They were facing some pretty darn good Iowa teams, I don't know what you expect. THe first game was against an Iowa team that may have well went undefeated if Stanzi wouldn't have gotten injured, and last year Iowa was again a top 25 team before the injuries started happening to their Oline, Robinson, and their linebackers.

If a team loses...

the fans of said team go on about the coach "not having the team ready." Sometimes you just lose/aren't good enough on that day. And Iowa fans are just as guilty (think the 2005 game). I don't know that Iowa "wasn't ready to play" that day, ISU just played a lot better. Sometimes that happens.

Should ISU win Saturday, it won't be because KF didn't coach or prepare Iowa. It will be because ISU played better. If the Cyclones have something go their way early (special teams play, tipped ball for INT, etc.) it could certainly be a four-quarter battle.

Really hard to say that Rhoads didn't have the Cyclones "ready" the last two years. In reality, you can't expect to overcome the number of mistakes from the QB position the last 2 years and expect to beat Iowa. 2010 probably wouldn't have mattered a great deal even if Arnaud were perfect as the ISU defense did nothing to stop Iowa, but the 2009 game could have been a four-quarter game.

Looking forward to Saturday. Good weather so no excuses there. We'll know more about both teams after Saturday.

And your point? Iowa was ahead 34-0 when the starters came out with 4 minutes left to go in the 3rd quarter and ran out the clock to end the game at the 8 and had a fumble at the 15 in the 1st quarter that took more points off the board, this game wasn't as "close" as the score looks.

With that said
Iowa 31
ISU 17

Did Tenn tech drive the ball on Iowa during the game? I remember flipping over to it and saw that they were somewhat driving in the second quarter and then threw the pick six.

We get scores from Lenz, Shontrelle and... wait for it... L.J. (Has Leonard ever had a pick 6?)
Iowa gets 2 TD's from McNutt.

Are you serious, Clark? That's been pretty much covered in most of the previous posts. You must be a moron and your mother dresses you in black and gold!
