I thought about getting one, but have been hearing that the quality while playing DVD's is bad. How about the audio?

Good place to get one?

Haven't had any issues with movie playback on my PS3 at all. DVDs and Blu Rays look and sound great.

I got my PS3 from Amazon Warehouse Deals. The "Like New" items are more than likely open box items that have never been used. I just found one available now for $225 on there. They come and go all the time, a "Very Good" condition one might even be cheaper and probably has a cosmetic blemish that is hardly detectable. AWD are awesome.

EDIT: Just realized that I linked to the 320GB AWD page. The 160GB ones (the one I got) are an even better deal. I bought mine last spring as a bundle with 2 games; after selling the games on Amazon my PS3 cost about $170.

And, I think the base PS3 price is $249 now across the board wherever you would get it new. Highly recommend the purchase

After I got mine, I went Blu Ray crazy. I played my first ever DVD on it the other day. I'm thinking of not every buying a blu ray again. It really upconverts the DVD's very well, in my opinion.

Mine looks grainy on Blu ray movies. Not sure if that's due to the source material, or what.

Are you watching it on a tube tv? Blu rays look so real on my 1080P TV through an HDMI cable that it freaks me out.

How about regular DVD's?

I watched my first DVD on it just the other day. It upconverts so well, that I may not buy another blu ray for a while. I'll just save my money and keep getting DVDs. It looks much better than just a standard DVD player

Do you play games? It's a nice package deal with games and Blu-Ray player into one. But, if you really aren't even a casual gamer, Blu-Ray players are a lot cheaper on their own now.

Yeah. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what. It's hooked up via hdmi to a plasma, and the games look great. Some of the movies have been 20-30 years old though.

You can't play VHS tapes or Betas on a PS3 you big silly head
