There is a group that does. If he losees to Michigan his seat will be very warm and that group will grow.

This has to be related to the Zach Smith stuff, right?

Performance has been among the best on the field. 12+ wins every season he's been there. A national championship. In the conversation every year. For every group that wants a coach out, they better have a replacement that's an upgrade in mind. Not sure who they think this could possibly be with that kind of bar to beat.

Did CMC grow up an OSU fan? I thought I read or heard somewhere that he hated Ohio State...

If one thing could make me leave CF it would be another "Hoiberg Watch" type of situation with Campbell. It permeates everythingand makes me angry.

You'll never avoid that on CF. Every time ISU has a successful coach, there are always rumors about them leaving for better jobs. Thus CF will always obsess over any and every possible tidbit of information pertaining to those.

Part is Zach Smith and part is not going to the playoffs in back-2-back years. OSU has a mindset that it's college playoffs or bust.

Reading some of these responses caused me to share this thought.

I’m so blessed to witness the growth of OUR program here at Iowa State University.

Life is all about change so no need to worry about tomorrow since it will be different than today.

Thankful for the journey.

Go Cyclones and beat TTU

Do OSU fans really want Urban out the door?

I’ve lived in Ohio for 20 years and am constantly bombarded with OSU fan opinion. They love Urban, and most will be upset if he’s fired or quits. OSU fans easily forget loses to Purdue, Iowa, etc, they never forget losing to Michigan or winning a NC. Even accordingly to their wild expectations, he’s never lost to Michigan and got them a NC 3 years ago.
If they lose to Michigan and dont play in the BIG championship game or sniff the playoff, then his seat will get a little warm. I still doubt the avg fan wants him gone for one down year considering his track record so far.

Missing playoffs in back to back years as in projecting this year I take it?

Hard to believe that group is overly large, they haven't finished outside of the top 6 in final ranking in the last 4 years (since CFP started). In a quick search, it looks like they haven't done that since the 70's.

Are they blindly hoping for Saban or Swinney? Who else would they push Urban out for, and be in a better position?

Yes, I'm projecting this year they don't make the playoffs. They still have MSU, UM and possibly a Big10 championship game.
I think Urban is the right man for the job, but I'm sure OSU feels they could get anyone. I have heard Chris Peterson name tossed around on the radio. I think Ryan Day is going to be a great coach someday and very well could replace Urban down the road.

Not right now, but fans don’t matter.

Does Gene Smith, or those he answers to, want Urban out? Does Urban want to quit again? And if one of those is a yes, who is making the hiring decision at OSU? I think a new coach at OSU isn’t that far off, but it won’t be CMC imo.

I don't think Urban leaves unless it's on his own but if he's going to leave I'd rather him do it now than in a few years. I don't see him getting fired at all

I don’t see it either. I could see him quitting at some time soon though.

CMC still has a very substantial buyout following this year and next, so Im not really fretting a coaching change. If Purdy continues to play at this level, it's going to be a really good run over the next 3 years with or without CMC.

It's going to be a long tenure if we continue to worry about CMC leaving or being poached with every win we get. Having said that, with how much the players and, ultimately, the fans, have bought into his system, he has more loyal support here than he could get at other schools. He might be one of those rare breeds where a paycheck doesn't matter as much as it does to others.

From all the interviews I’ve heard with MC including the story regarding how he came to ISU it will be MC’s wife who would propagate any notion to leave ISU. As long as she is happy coach stays.
