I genuinely almost feel bad for people who don’t realize how good Brock has been. And I don’t get how he can still be underappreciated.

It's not that we don't appreciate him. The question is the NFL. It's like Melvin Ejim. We all loved the guy and still love the guy. However, when discussing the NBA we all pretty much knew he was a Euro player and not really an NBA type guy. I feel the same way about Brock. Love him and will miss him. Just more of a CFL type guy.

Pretty much every recent ISU NFL prospect was drafted later than what this board predicted. It's not disrespectful to be realistic.

I don't think anyone is saying brock is going to go in the first 3 rounds.

he'll be drafted. It will be on day 3 but he'll get a call.

He probably will be invited to the combine, as well.

There are plenty on this board that do not appreciate him.

Arm strength worries me. I wonder if he goes late as a career back up. I think, for the most part, he sees the game well and will do what is asked, but I just don't see the type of explosiveness in his arm most teams look for when taking a chance on a QB in later rounds.

I wouldn't make the argument of him being an NFL starter, but he will get a shot as a backup. Brock has shown an ability to be highly accurate, can extend plays, making dumb mistakes less (this year), is a leader, and proven winner. That is the perfect backup NFL QB. Regarding arm strength.....Rush did ok for the Cowboys and his arm is considered suspect.

If he finishes the year strong I could see someone going after him with a 6th-7th round pick. I hope someone gives him a chance. I think he could be a solid back-up option for someone.

He's great in a lot of aspects, but not elite enough to go any higher than 5th for an NFL franchise. He's not short by any means, but being 6'4" would greatly improve how he's viewed. Also, if his release was quicker and velocity was higher, I would feel confident about him being drafted. As it stands, I could see him getting a lot of passes batted down in the NFL.

FWIW, this post is intentionally pessimistic to prevent myself from my annual NFL Draft disappointment.

Acknowledging deficiencies isn't disrespect. I hope he proves everyone wrong but his arm strength isn't NFL level. If he can't stretch vertically defenses will eat him alive.

Maybe someone else knows more about this than me, but it doesn't feel like there are as many top end QB's in this years draft. It makes it hard to predict how teams will value everyone, but I would hope that helps a guy like Purdy.

It's also worth noting that there are a lot of players that stuck around for that extra Covid year, that can now enter the draft. I could see some guys that would be looking at late round potential getting squeezed out do to a larger number of players in the draft.

David Blough is backup for Detroit. Here is the film study on him:

Arm strength is important in the NFL, but it’s not everything. Some quarterbacks have below-average arms but are still able to push the ball deep with elite accuracy. Unfortunately, Blough’s deep accuracy is questionable at best, and he probably won’t find much success when he throws deep to the sideline. The NFL’s margin for error is considerably smaller than college, and that’s bad news for Blough.

Also, he is 6'1".

I'll take Purdy.

Optimistically, he would go in the 5th or 6th round and be a backup. With the relatively weak QB class that is projected for 2022, that could mean a team takes a flyer on Brock on day 3. Whether or not he sticks with a team will depend on the situation he ends up in.

I said similar to a friend this weekend. Could see a team like the Saints, Seahawks taking him. I could see him being, essentially, a Chase Daniel type....not really play much, but valuable to have as a back up.

I can see him sticking on a practice squad for a while and maybe be on a roster here and there which is really good money.

The amount of disrespect that kid gets is amazing. He is 10 times the qb Rosenfels was and he played in the league a long time.

Sage had an nfl body with an nfl arm. Purdy is short for an nfl qb and wont be able to elude nfl DL like he has in college. Id bet purdy gets a shot somewhere as an undrafted f.a. though

I can see him being drafted on the last day and sticking on a roster, but as much as I love the guy I don’t think we’re looking at a Tom Brady story with Purdy.
