Visited the parents this past summer. I took the train while my husband drove in two days later. The three days our car was there, the Google car came past my parents house. So there's our car with our obscured Iowa plates in my Illinois parents' driveway.

Google car turned around in the driveway of my parents farm last wk. The thing I didn't understand is there is still nearly a half mile of road with 4 more houses on it that it didn't go down to.

The driveby on our house was in July 2022 per the date stamp. It was on a Tuesday afternoon; I can tell because of the full garbage can out front. In the overhead view you can see that the deck is framed but the flooring hasn't been put on yet. Yeah...they didn't get to that until winter was coming in! Lew is over in front of the garagemahal, doing some clearing out of all the extra "stuff". It looks like we're having a garage sale for random pieces of wood and metal. :D

And like I've told you, we live in the woods:

I'm down to my last stamp and I have a medical bill that needs to be sent in. Guess it's time to go to the post office. It's been 4 years since I last bought stamps if I remember correctly

All right, this semester can end.

So far, today's emails include questions about a document thing we stopped using 10-11 weeks ago, whether essays should be on the topic in the instructions or some other list (to quote Z: "They're in the instructions for a reason, to use them......), what to focus on with late work (turning it in), and more.

But, thankfully, every single essay in this class so far is plagiarized. It's so pathetic.

Daughter was concerned about a paper she wrote. She wrote the entire paper herself with only attributed quotes borrowed - and yet when she ran one of those rat programs on it it came back saying that her paper was over 30% plagiarized.

Concerning...

I don't use the programs. I put the first couple sentences into Google and the original pops right up.

I can usually start by looking and saying "they don't know those words," or "well, that's rather formal for a (insert high school/undergrad grade here).

Had 46 trick or treat kids so far. Not out of candy yet. Was only a couple of years ago that I would get ZERO. Hood is changing demographically. Lots of families with kids added the last 10 ten years.
