I thought it would be interesting to hear some other opinions on the transfers Iowa State has brought in since Hoiberg took over and now continuing with Prohm. Hoiberg recruits are bolded, this can include sit-out transfers, grad transfers, and jucos for reference. Here our my rankings of the Top 20.

1. Royce - Probably the most talented player we've had since Fizer
2. Kane - Man against boys out there most evenings
3. Clyburn
4. Shayok- looks like he lead the Big 12 in scoring this year
5. Mckay - Won Big 12 defensive POY
6. BDJ - NBA talent, couldnt get his life straightened out
7. Burton- I would put him slightly ahead of Nader
8. Nader- NBA player
9. Jacobson- looks like he could be an All Conference selection this year
10. Hogue- one of my all time favorite Cyclones, IHCC

11. Christopherson
12. Babb
13. Lucious
14. McGee
15. Donovan Jackson
16. Weiler-Babb
17. Chris Allen
18. Bowie
19. Jake Anderson
20. Booker

Next Tier- Talley, Cooke, Brase, Edozie

Busts- Holden, Beverly, Kasongo, Bluford, Phillips

Going off my Top 10 and 12 of the 14 being Hoiberg recruits, I think we can agree Hoiberg carved out the transfer market while Prohm has shown to be better at getting high school talent.

I'd move NWB up a little, he was averaging a hair under a triple double before injuries last year and it wasn't his fault it was a rebuilding year.

I'd also consider bumping McGee up a little. As a specialist it doesn't get much better than that.

BDJ I'd leave around 6 in terms of raw talent but in terms of impact he might not even be top 20.

Royce and Kane probably are 1/2 and I could see either order. I'm not sure I'd have picked a player in the B12 over Kane that year even though Ejim was POTY.

TPA (Total Points Added) is a good measurement tool I like to use. These are the top-30 individual seasons by a Cyclone since 1998. Transfers/Jucos are highlighted. People are sleeping on McGee.

McGee is probably my #1 shooter of all time for the Clones.

No idea on the stats but just watching him. It's him then Sullivan in terms of guys I'd want launching 3s.

He was the 6th man and the best player on that team, check his numbers, 2nd leading scorer despite being 6th in mpg.

Your memory must be fuzzy also because Clyburn was easily the best player on that team, hence why I ranked him that high. Mcgee was a heck of a 6th man but there is probably a reason he didnt start. He would have started over Lucious or Babb if was better.

Clyburn was a tough matchup, took down Ohio State for us in the dance if not for total screw job by the zebras.

He was also a huge get because he had already put up monster #s at Utah (17ppg and 8rpg) and really was a can't miss addition.

He just put up better numbers than all of the starters though? Fred had an NBA mentality when it came to his rotations, especially his 2nd and 3rd season when the roster was thin, the best 5 didn't always start, if you can get by with your second best lineup and then play your best 5 when other teams sub that gives you a huge advantage. It's basically the blueprint for the success of that season. The starters kept in close and then he released Tyrus. Again, I don't expect a non ISU fan to remember but Tyrus was always on the floor in crunch time.

So he didnt start and played 6 less minutes than the other 2 backcourt players? So you are basically saying Fred wasnt playing the best players?

@heitclone

You could say Mcgee was a better pure shooter and offensive player and I would agree with you. To say he was a better overall player just because you cherry picked some stats is laughable. Lucious averaged 4 more apg, Babb averaged the same number of steals and Mcgees Asst/Turnover ratio wasnt very good, those are important stats you look for out of guards, not just how many points they score or how well they shoot.

Shayok drives me nuts. Dribbles way to much and is a ball hogging turnover machine. I would bench his ass until he shows he is a team player. Seems to play like personal stats are all he cares about.

At some level, I have to agree that he needs to value the ball more. He is the best offensive threat out there right now, so you have to cut him a little slack. Maybe with Wiggington coming back he will not feel the need to push so hard. Still disappointed in the play of Babb. Just seems like he is set on cruise at 25 MPH a lot of times. Really frustrating, because you know he can do so much more on offense.

I think he was a juco guard that Hoiberg brought in his 1st or 2nd year. Other than that I dont remember him doing much.
DeMarcus Phillips from Marshalltown Juco. Yeah, he didn't pan out.
