Here are the numbers as of December 25th. I have bolded the stats that favor one over the other and will keep updating this weekly (as long as it doesn't spark a huge outrage and gets closed).

Here we go:

Rashad Vaughn

SEASONTEAMMINFGM-FGAFG%3PM-3PA3P%FTM-FTAFT%REBASTBLKSTLPFTOPTS
2014-15UNLV31.76.6-15.5.4261.5-5.1.2943.0-4.8.6254.81.40.40.52.32.417.7

Bryce DeJean-Jones

2014-15ISU30.15.7-9.9.5731.1-2.9.3853.6-4.0.8896.63.30.81.81.41.916.0

So there you go. The only stat that is better for RV is PPG, but it takes him 5 more shots per game to get there. So far, clear advantage BDJ.

How about rebounds, steals and assists? I would think BDJ has the advantage there too. That isn't to say that Vaughn isn't a really good player and he's definitley the better pro prospect but in terms of production BDJ is a great fit

Scroll the stats to the right and you'll see the rest of the numbers. BDJ winning in almost every statistical category. I should have also pointed out that both players are listed at exactly the same measurements: 6'6" and 210 lbs.

Oh look another "I'm still hung up on Vaughn" thread.

Comparing the stats is impossible given the fact the play on different teams. Vaughn's stats across the board would be better if he played at ISU, He would shoot a higher percentage due to better looks from better spacing offensively. He would have more assists with better scorers around him to pass to (two of his fellow starters did not even score against Zona). He would probably even score more points on fewer shots for ISU. BDJ has probably improved some from last year, but most of his statistical improvement is from being better utilized in a better system for his skills. I think Vaughn's numbers at ISU would be very similar to BDJ's.

I think his shot selection and shooting percentages would increase, but what about blocks, rebounds, and steals? I would say BDJ is more talented in all those aspects hands down.

I'm just drunk enough to post. Rashad Vaughn is a hell of a basketball player. BDJ is a hell of a basketball player. Merry Christmas.

He lives down the street from me, so I could start posting weekly updates on Adam Haluska if any of you guys are still interested in that...I mean, it seems ridiculous to me, but so does the continued obsession with Rashad.

Now all we need is a +/- comparison. Does KenPom have a player ranking algorithm?

Yeah I didn't mind the other RV thread because it was basically a thread poking fun at UNLV and RV obsessors, but it gets closed and 40 minutes later, here's a new one, and this one is more directly obsessed with RV.

BTW Matt Abdelmassih from last February traveled back to the future to tell me to bump this thread.

I don't think comparing the two statistically throughout the season is being obsessive.

OK....back on track. Let's make sure we all have our tasks straight now. GTO is going to keep the table updated. A group of us were going to nab RV's pet rabbit. Remind me now...who was in charge of getting the big pot of boiling water going?

BDJ is also 4 years older. Vaughn is still getting his feet wet. I am very happy we got BDJ when we lost Vaughn, but I wish we had both and think both would be extremely successful here. And talent has NEVER been the issue with BDJ. He has always had that.

I don't know why anyone would be upset about how this turned out for us. We lose Vaughn, and gain BDJ. For our purposes, it's a slight win.

Here nor there
BDJ has been great lately. I loved the way he played after having to miss a game. He was all over using his great talent to do a lot of little things for the team. Look at how few fg attempts he has taken. If BDJ continues to make such an efficient impact we are better than I had expected.

In regards to freshman, Vaughn would have been nice, but I'd prefer keeping BDJ and adding to that Dillon Brooks (Oregon). IMO we were much closer to that happening. Had SDW decided in June that 2 games to win PT was not enough...damn.

Tough to compare, IMO. BDJ has a team around him. There is more to worry about than one guy. Do I think RV made a mistake, sure, but I think there is more to BDJ's upswing this year than just Hoiberg teaching him better. When you are the team, it's easier to focus on stopping you.

Also, I want to say I'm glad we have what we do, but if RV could have looked past the instant payday, I think he'd have better stats now at ISU. Easier to get assists when you teammates can score as well. And easier to score when they are worried about more than one guy.

Yea when it comes to one-year-rental players I think I'd take the 5th year senior over the HS prospect. I think people are just upset about how it turned out because we wanted ISU to be at the point where top recruits choose us out of High School.

Landing a 5 star leads to other 5 stars coming. Getting Vaughn gets you Diallo. So many people are hung up on 5 star recruits so in that case I'd rather have Vaughn. That being said, I'm perfectly fine with BDJ and I trust Hoya no matter what decisions he makes with anything concerning ISU bball.
