Re: Rashad Vaughn

And we have a new frontrunner for sour grapes post of the year! Bonus points for mentioning "doing it the right way." This is gold from gopherhole and some dude named jmag21:

Disappointed we didn't make the top five, but it'd been pretty clear for a while he wasn't ending up here. As per usual, I wish him no success in his basketball career, and hope that whatever team he ends up endures near constant disappointment in their basketballing hopes and dreams. However, I will say, and of course, this sounds very sour grapes, and perhaps it is, but I'm secretly a bit relieved. I'd rather fail attempting to succeed the right way than to actually succeed the wrong way. Clem hurt. And whichever school gets Rashad, it's absolutely clear that they're selling their soul to get him. It's slim consolation, but if I wanted to cheer for Calipari, I'd be a Kentucky fan right now. I hope Pitino is able to craft a winning program the right way with his 2015 class.

Minnesota nice right there....

I was about to post this one. It's funny how they're so delusional to think that their program is better than it actually is right now. Is it a bad program? No, but it's not as good as even UNLV's currently.

Hasn't Fred been recruiting Vaughn since 9th grade too? Some people are so clouded by their ******** they can't get their logic right.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'm glad ISU made the final 5 list. I have to be honest though, after reading the Trib article, I'm also a little concerned about his "mentor" situation. Sometimes those situations and whatever "arrangements" may be involved can come back to bite the school in the *** a year or two after the recruit is done playing. I want to believe that ISU would not be stupid enough to get involved in such a situation, but.....

Pretty sad that they assume that we are paying him despite Hoiberg being the first coach to recruit him. Hoiberg wouldn't risk ruining our basketball program for one recruit..especially when the player has said he will be a one and done.

Don't sweat it, Fred's not interested in screwing the school over. He's a vicious competitor but not a cheater.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Are people really that surprised we are in his Final 5? Why would he not include us and UNLV in his top 5 when he has already taken his Official Visits?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I am surprised by KU being on there.

Hopefully RV wants to be the go-to guy.

I think he does and I think that is why we and UNLV are favorites. He's a 2 guard in the truest sense. 7 foot Centers and 6'8" power forwards are there to rebound his misses and kick it back out for him to shoot again, not steal his looks.

Who is surprised?

We're mostly laughing at Minnesota because they think they are some basketball powerhouse. They had three huge recruits instate and missed on all of them (not to mention Macura).

Still would have liked to land JP Macura. He would have fit in perfectly with Fred's system.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Keep winning, contend for the big 12 title, make a run in the tourney and all the Mayor love will keep flowing and it's all we could have done to land RV. We had the perfect visit really, perfect game, perfect environment, best coach(IMO), best fans (IMO), and he gets to showcase his talents more with ISU than prob any other team sans maybe UNLV. However UNLV seems to be a train wreck of sorts right now but he would definitely be "The Man" at UNLV.

Honestly if he wants to be a one and done, play for a conf and even national title, play for great fans and be with a coach that puts him in best position to get drafted highly than can RV honestly think ISU is not the best fit? I guess this argument could also be made at KY and KU as well.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'd love to land Rashad, and I hope our dedication will pay off. If we could remove the third party influence then I would give ISU a great shot. My intuition tells me that third party influence will be a major factor. If that is the case, I don't like our odds against those four.

Just a thought, if it is really down to ISU/UNLV and he said he was going to take 5 visits, why not add the three biggest names possible to fill out your top 5?

It should be noted that the "third party" has already had good things to say about ISU and influnced (or at least approved of) RV to take multiple visits and one of his officials to ISU. We should not just assume that he is anti-Cyclones just because ISU isn't a blue blood.

And as for the posts that he may be a silent commit (for ISU or UNLV), if that were the case I would assume Minnesota would still be top 5 then. No sense in drawing the ire of his home town this early if he already had a decision made.

5 schools left, as of today I like CFH's chances.

I only read a little of the tribune article. Can anyone explain what his "mentor" might or hopes to get out of the situation? Also, I am thrilled, but not surprised, to be in that top 5!

Wow, I came to this thread expecting more debate on toddler's, pet store's and tails. Pleasantly surprised. Actual news.
