He's quick, but extremely under-sized. Played on that good Waukee team a couple years back w/ Jake Knott. He might play some in the return game or as a scat back type.

Undersized? At 5'11" he one of the taller backs we have. He is bigger than A-Rob, Beau, and White.

This kid made a horrible choice. Did nobody explain to him that he will never beat out Bo Williams.
He had to know Bo Williams was a Cyclone and thus would never get to play. Had to know it.

How fast can he get out of a back pedal??
I think that if he is somewhat fast he may be able to make the transition IMHO

Everyone knows that the safest place from a Bo Williams stiff arm is as an Iowa State backup RB because you will be on the field at the same time as him.

Rumor is that Bo Williams was forced to transfer from Florida because Tim Tebow nearly lost his virginity to an errant Bo Williams stiff arm.

I assume that he will get an opportunity to compete at RB - especially in the spring. Beyond that, does anyone know if he has skills to contribute as a DB or on special teams?

I went to an Ankeny-Waukee game basically to see Woods play because he was getting a lot of pub from the local media. It didn't take long to see that Knott was the best player on the field. Maybe Woods wants to get back together with Knott and be a Clone, and if he works his a$$ off maybe he can help the team somewhere, but I strongly doubt it will be at running back.

Yes, undersized. He was listed at 5'11" and 187# coming from Waukee. Notice I said listed. He was more like 5'9" and 165#. I saw him play on multiple occassions and am fairly aware of how high schools tend to list players. I am not, and have not said the kid cannot be a successful walk-on. But, he is undersized. FWIW, Beau is undersized too. That's a reason he ended up at ISU. Then again, Barry Sanders was undersized too. Not a knock, just fact.

He is a walkon, so this could be just as much about academics or getting to a school closer to home than football.
