I asked this before, but I dont think anyone responded.

How much is a complete apparel, uniform, equipment deal worth per school? All sports?

If Knight threw in some kind of deal like this for the entire B1G conference for say 10 years, how much is that worth? Especially if there is a certain amount of retail apparel each school would be allowed to order to sell for profit etc.

Then throw in a Ad campaign or some other way to support the conference. This way he is using his resources and not straight up front money. But saving and increasing the B1G pay at the same time.
He could also agree to sweeten the pot in other ways too.

But what do you people think about the above? Could that be a way to subsidize Oregon to the B1G and if so would it be enough?

Generally speaking, if it's an entity with elected membership (public institution B's of R would apply), it's subject to Open Meetings Act. Some exceptions could apply, but that's a blanket basic.

CU's recent meetings are getting more attention than normal, for obvious reasons with this topic ... so a lot of meetings tend to go unnoticed.

What if they just have a BBQ at someone's house? Just talking it up like a group of friends with no set agendas.

In Iowa, if there's a majority present and they discuss/deliberate on such matters, it qualifies as a meeting. Failure to provide notice would make it a violation of the open meeting law.

I just find it odd that non of these other schools BORs are having meetings of any kind. Or that CUs are the only one anyone is watching.

I thought they had to give public notice, but I didnt know how much they really did/could skirt that rule, and if it depended on the subject matter on what meetings were published.

I guess I didnt know if these were subject to the same "Public meeting" rules etc if they are technically not public. etc.

I am sure some of you guys know more about how these BORs are governed than I do and can give me some insight.

Totally depends on each state's open access laws. Colorado must be a lot like Iowa's, which states before any public meeting, the agenda must be made public and sent to the press 24 hours before the meeting, and also posted in public places like web sites.

Have to keep the people informed about what is happening, even though few really care.

Yeah I know there are some funky things with those rules and people get in trouble sometimes with them, especially when someone wants to take issue with something.

I cant even come close to saying I know all the rules and how they may differ from state to state or public board to board.

I can say I have seen some stories on different boards, like school boards, city councils etc getting in trouble for discussing official things in places or events that were later deemed a meeting legally or at least having legal issues because of such. Usually when a group of people against said members find out about the discussion and take issue with it.

There are a lot of things in these types of meetings that seem like a strange song and dance but I know many are done for legal procedure.

It’s worth a lot, but not enough to move the needle. All schools already have a deal with Nike/adidas/under armor though. That’s like asking if the sport below mens basketball moves the needle.

Not surprising that they were having these talks, and I think most on here knew it wasn’t going to work. If a partnership or merger wouldn’t work for the Big XII, I don’t see how something similar with the ACC would be any different. And this is a pretty good indication that the PAC isn’t going to get a media deal that puts them in the same neighborhood as the Big XII or SEC. Without that, I don’t see how they hang on to all 10 members.
