$30m per team, but what all is included in that number? It sounds like Tier 1,2,3 all in.

Someone posted earlier that Big12 expects $37M per team for Tier 1,2,3 post OuT.

That doesn't seem like enough difference to push anyone to the Big12 without further B1G poaching. Unless they have unequal revenue sharing or no GoR agreement, and that's enough to annoy/scare someone into jumping.
If it's $300,000,000 for 5 years, is that $30,000,000 per year divided by 10 teams? Or is it $300,000,000 per year?

Those Utah fans are sounding like Hawkeyes fans lately.
I hope so, engaged fans means viewership. Just what the TV Execs want.

Isn't that what we as ISU fans are hoping for? TV valuing engaged fanbases.

And don't tell me, ISU doesn't have it's share of wacky fans. They exist at all schools and the internet just gives them a soapbox to make their views known.

I don't know either but if money and greed really does continue to drive this thing the P2 could say they're going to break off from the NCAA and stage their own playoffs between just the B1G and SEC, similar to the NFL with the NFC and AFC. Not saying that's all that likely, or that it's something I'd want to see, but if it's two conferences forming an arrangement like that absent an overarching governing body, what could stop them?
An NFL light idea is the final goal, but to only take teams from the current SEC and B10, leaves way too many good teams not involved and brings along quite a few teams that shouldn't make the cut. No way does what you are suggesting occurring without Clemson, Florida St., Oregon, Washington, OSU and a few others. Too much value in those schools and not enough in Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers and a few SEC teams for it only to be a B10/SEC deal. TV is driving this train, and ESPN and FOX will want those teams in the league.

With NIL and playoffs, it essentially is the same argument from a 'business model' standpoint.
Nah one is banning people from making money. The other is about access which doesn't have to be guaranteed and isn't subject to antitrust.

If the P5 don't get what they want then you will see a break away.
I agree with that, but the question is how many conferences will there be when this occurs. One could easily make the case when this is all said and done that the P5 becomes the P4+ ND, with the Pac 12 being the conference that is no longer around.

Not exactly sure.

Power 5 or power 2? Power two tries to break away and it could be tough sledding. I think the ACC and big XII, and I would think a lot of the PAC, do not trust the SEC and BIG ten anymore and would not vote with them.

You're right about the valuable properties which is why they'll be divided up by the B1G and SEC. UDub to the B1G and Clemson to the SEC as obvious examples...

Yeah I should've been more clear that if that were to happen it'd be hard to imagine without the B1G and SEC expanding to at least 20 each.

Respectfully disagree:
Definition of antitrust ... of, relating to, or being legislation against or opposition to trusts or combinations specifically : consisting of laws to protect trade and commerce from unlawful restraints and monopolies or unfair business practices.

Also note, Warren is on record of being concerned about potential antitrust. The moves we've seen over the past 2 years have 'damaged' conferences MORE than they've benefitted the B1G and SEC. I'm NOT saying they haven't benefitted, but monetarily it's quite clear the damage is greater than the gain.

I see clear monopolistic practices. Sadly, I've seen it in several industries over the past 40 years, but for whatever reasons they're being ignored.

Yeah I'm no anti-trust lawyer but if it were a post-season arrangement by the expanded B1G and SEC, how would it be subject to anti-trust? Open to being educated on this.

UNLAWFUL restraints, and UNFAIR business practices. Neither which applies to playoff access. Same way the NFL doesn't have to give the area league a playoff spot.

P5. While media and board posters keep pushing the idea of single league of P2 that isn't what the P2 actually want. They want to be the power, making the most, having the best brands and crushing the other conferences. Not absorbing them and limiting their market reach.

So if the B1G and SEC got together and said we're going to stage a post-season playoff between our programs and call it the SuperAmazingPower2Playoffs with the winner being crowned the SuperAmazingPower2PlayoffChampions, how would that be subject to antitrust? They wouldn't be restraining other conferences from staging their own post-season playoff. Again, open to being educated as I know nothing about antitrust law.

Then, why would there be any break away? It’s basically there already.

Could happen, but let's say each conference takes 4 new schools, that gets them to 20 each. Both conferences still have a lot of schools that do not bring in money, while better schools that do, are still out there.

Both conferences are running out of teams that bring in that extra value, and still keep the dollars to every team in the conference increasing, that is why they are going to have to get rid of a few of these schools for that to happen. "let's see B10 you get ND, Stanford, Oregon and Washington, now would you rather still take UNC and UVA or keep Rutgers and Maryland because they are currently in the conference?
