This article has lots of details on the SEC’s media deals. Here are a few snippets:The deal that ESPN and the SEC completed was before they got Texas and OU, that number will go up when those to join the SEC. Now ESPN and the SEC could have been working on the deal knowing that the two B12 schools were going to jump, but if the SEC had it all lined up, they would be silly not to get more money down the road, once the two join the conference
Iowa State's fan base and athletic department seems to offer a lot to the college athletics world. The Cyclones getting less revenue may benefit the Hawkeyes in the short term when they have less instate competition, but in the long run they might be hurt by not having the strong instate competition that they have now.Meanwhile over on Hok Report, the children are giddy over the impending collapse of the Iowa State athletic programs. Led by their favorite poster, “Paednoch23”, the nut job who wanted to sue Twins last year. https://iowa.forums.rivals.com/thre...unced-80-100m-per-school.397229/post-10356815
As much as I would like to see the Clones win more games vs Iowa, I still think it's good to have them be a power team because the wins against them mean more.Meanwhile over on Hok Report, the children are giddy over the impending collapse of the Iowa State athletic programs. So it WAS apples and oranges. Well, at least we got it sorted now.Ok, yeah, I mathed and readed bad. You were right. I was wrong.
You missed the point, all that is irrelevant. What I'm saying is just because fanbases carry grudges doesn't mean university administrations to. The leadership at the University of Iowa carries no grudge against Notre Dame because of a Football game 70 years ago. What EIU thinks or does not think about ND does not matter, they are not Ohio St, Michigan and others that are not going to listen to what their opinion about ND joining the league matters. Do you really think that if EIU opposed ND joining that the league would turn them down? The B10 would tell EIU to "shut up, vote YES, and keep collecting your checks!" and EIU would do it.
It was, major misread by me.So it WAS apples and oranges. Well, at least we got it sorted now.
Yes they do still carry a grudge in the administration. They wouldn’t still talk about Yost as recently as 2017 to potential students if they didn’t. They also discuss the students defending the campus for four days from a siege against the Klan in the 1920’s.You missed the point, all that is irrelevant. Just like the current administration of Notre Dame carries no grudges against the Big Ten. They are MEMBERS in one sport and play the Big Ten annually in many sports. If they are carrying a grudge they sure hide it well. And just because at this point they still think being Independent works for them(which will always be their preference) doesn't mean they 'hate' anyone.
NBC/ND will have a deal that will keep ‘em independent & like someone else pointed out, maybe CBS is involved. ESPN could probably overpay em but I don’t think it’s necessary & will it even benefit ESPN to deal with a partner who’ll want 7 home games broadcast nationally when only 3 of those games are worth anything? To the schools yes. What I was talking about is ESPN getting in on Notre Dame’s home games because they have the cash to spend if they want to. NBC just paid a ton to the Big Ten for a handful of games. Let’s see how much they are willing to pay to Notre Dame next time around before it doesn’t make sense. Disney and ABC have nothing wrapped up in the SEC and ACC deals by comparison so they have money to toss around if they want to.

SEC will want a lot more money & ESPN will spend it there while probably opting for the Big 12 who’ll provide more flexible content, especially with the power struggle that’ll take place for the first 5 years.
I wish that were true, but it isn’t. They would love nothing more than for us to have the same relevance as UNI in this state and I don’t blame them. If the roles were reversed, I’d feel the exact same way.Iowa State's fan base and athletic department seems to offer a lot to the college athletics world. What will SEC give in order to get more from ESPN?
9 or 10 conference games?
Work with ESPN on more consolidation?
Would they give up on their early November Div 1AA patsies? What will SEC give in order to get more from ESPN?

Teaching the history of prejudice against Notre Dame and Catholics 100 years ago does not equal ‘hate’ for the current Big Ten conference in my opinion. No one who participated in that prejudice is even alive today. We can agree to disagree.Yes they do still carry a grudge in the administration. The reason hockey is in the Big Ten was that it was very tough to be competitive without it. ACC not exactly a hockey hotbed. It is similar to wrestling teams in Big 12.
And they refuse to do anything that won’t let them play Navy in football because Navy kept them from going under in a war that began over 80 years ago.
If I had to think of one word to describe Notre Dame it is tradition. Tradition is seeped in remembering the past. You remember those who kept you from going under, but you also remember those who tried to sink you because they hate you for the most important aspect of your university and it is in your name, not your football team.
E Gordon Gee passed away? When did that happen?Teaching the history of prejudice against Notre Dame and Catholics 100 years ago does not equal ‘hate’ for the current Big Ten conference in my opinion. No one who participated in that prejudice is even alive today. We can agree to disagree.

Holy **** you're right. I completely forgot about that. He also left Ohio State in less than a year after his idiotic joke.E Gordon Gee passed away? When did that happen?
