They had Yormark on GameDay for about 30 seconds this morning. They asked him one question about the strength of Big 12 football, and I thought it was really interesting that he went out of his way to pump up Big 12 basketball during that 30 second spot.
It makes me think that he truly wants to lean in on basketball moving forward. With other conferences pivoting to football at the expense of basketball (ie no more Big Ten b-ball on ESPN), it probably does make sense for us to lean in the opposite direction. It certainly differentiates us from the PAC, and it's something we can outcompete the BIG/SEC in.
I've got to imagine that the premier college basketball matchups in packed arenas that our conference provides will be attractive to networks/streamers.
