These numbers aren't new, but here's an article posted a few days ago going over attendance trends hitting on % to capacity moreso than I've seen:

We should be proud of the fan engagement we have at ISU. Everyone talks about Ok St, TTU, KSU as being new top dogs, but I actually see no reason that we shouldn't be competing with BYU as top football game day atmosphere and top overall in both revenue sports. NIL is something we will need to figure out though.

I also see a lot of talk about how there's so many more activities to do on the West coast as an explanation for their attendance decline. I'd actually argue that it is more cultural. There is legitimately no other place on Earth than Jack Trice Stadium that I'd rather be on a Fall Saturday. Even if there was a beach or ski resort close by. It has just been ingrained in our lives from birth, for most of us. That's the difference. I was born in a cardinal and gold onesie that I spent 9 months knitting by hand in the womb while listening to the ISU fight song on repeat.

Have you listened to two guys named Chris lately?
Have you seen this, have you heard about this?

That's all I hear any time Hassel goes on one of his cookie cutter What's Buggin Andy rants. A totally fresh take on reclining on a flight! (He is right about that)

I've mentioned this in another thread, but making a college sports podcast in July is a tough task. I'll tune back in once fall camp starts. I've noticed Hassel ramping up his ISU trolling on twitter as a transparent way to fish for engagement.

Huggy and Fitz are doing their part to get us out of the sports talk doldrums.

Four to eight days ago (or so) even registered Twitter users (“blue check” paying members, or not) weren’t able to access Twitter at all, or were limited even if they did.

It was unclear at first, and for awhile, but then reported that it was in some kind of lockdown mode — as someone was scraping all of their data, like maybe a foreign government. I think it was instead maybe Facebook (in preparation for the release of their Twitter knockoff, which is active now in connection with Instagram).

This was HIGHLY unusual, that even registered users were locked out like that. Not that that is your issue, but the timing is close.
Elon lied to everyone, he wasn't paying his bills and his cloud was getting shut down. Based on what you about the guy, which story seems more plausible?

It's July 9, the Pac 12 still doesn't have a media deal and we are talking whether Jesus can hit a curve ball on a Pac 12 thread. Must be summer.

Personally, I'm waiting for the next installment in the angry neighbor chainsaw saga!

It was a former Google AI employee who posted detail of what he said was happening, and someone else who retweeted and agreed. I didn't see anything that Elon Musk said about it. I could post what I saw, but it is totally irrelevant to the topic under discussion. What you or I think doesn't really matter.

What occurred over a period of days --- and might still be occurring -- was/is perhaps relevant to someone on this site who had trouble accessing it. He experienced exactly what everyone a week ago experienced, registered Twitter use or not--unable to access at all, not all day long, but a significant portion thereof, over a period of days.

This is so preposterous- B12 is not adding anyone. If things were as bad as we suspect then almost all of those schools would be in B12 by now! Nothing will happen unless the money guys want it to! Get real

Big 12 does not have to add anyone. We are happy to accept requests for membership.

I think Matt Rhule might be the make or break hire for Nebraska. He’s the 6th coach since Osborne and the last two have been terrible. If he doesn’t turn it around then we may see the Huskers’ attendance finally break. Especially when they finally capitulate on the phony sellout streak.

I also think removing divisions will water down Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin. The easy path to the CCG will be gone. It would be like MLB removing divisions and going back to a pennant race.
Rhule will be an interdesting follow at kNeb. Can he repeat what he did at Temple and Baylor?

I don't think that is a guarantee. He did not exactly light the world on fire in the NFL. He will not have the 'Texas' advantage at Neb.

Of course, I am not rooting for him. I would rather have ISU be the king of the hill in these here parts.

Years back I would tell people on here that attendance and ticket sales is the only true measure of who would actually pay to watch a game streaming. I got laughed at for bringing up attendance but it's always seemed pretty obvious to me.

In terms of attendance and fan engagement ISU is definitely toward the top of Big 12 (really toward top of anybody outside of SEC/Big Ten) as long as football doesn't ever totally crater out like 80s to mid 90s.

I moved to west coast 9 years ago. I went from "not an outdoors person at all" to a total addict backpacking, rock climbing, surfing, etc... Yet with all that, I still find a way to watch every ISU fb and basketball game. A lot of times I just watch it on Sunday or Monday night when I get back from the weekend cowabunga lifestyle. I'll go on a backpacking trip for 10 days and when I get back still find a way to watch what I missed, because I'm a REAL fan. Meanwhile my SDSU and UCLA alum friends don't even know when they make the Final Four. They didn't grow up sports fans at all.

So while I see how it can affect attendance in a direct way...the people would still watch and follow most weeks if they grew up as real fans. They just don't. It's ok, not better or worse, it just is.

Btw if you call someone a “real” fan only if they go back and actually watched a game they were forced to miss there would be very few “real” fans and almost zero that were under 40

Seems like a limited perspective. I know a lot of people who catch Blazers games after they’re over. Especially people with kids who they don’t want watching much TV.

They’d be in the Big12 by now? As we’ve known for the last year no one is leaving the PAC before they see their media offer from the PAC. It’s shocking they haven’t seen the numbers/where the games will be aired, but they still haven’t.
