How is rebounding not the talk of the town? WTF! +11 against OU, and like -10 or something against Baylor. Thoughts?
Wasn't OU top ten in the nation for rebounding? Much much is rediculous. There was a significant difference in effort/hustle plays between those two games.
Also, Baylor is a much MUCH better rebounding team than OU.

I understand their tempo effects this stat but they are 8th in rebounds per game. Not by a reliable metric.
On Offensive Rebounding Percentage, Baylor rebounds 42.5% of their misses (5th nationally). OU rebounds 31.5% of their misses (149th nationally). (we are at 29%, 225th )
Defense and rebounding are the two areas that will determine the ceiling for this team.
When we defend and rebound, we're an elite team. When we don't, we aren't...it really is that simple with this group.
We've been good offensively the last 2 games, but it's not like we've shot lights out...it just goes to show how good this group can be when they are engaged defensively. We just beat the #1 team in the nation without shooting lights out, when they were unconscious from 3pt range...and it wasn't a fluke or luck.
Hopefully it also silences the bozo's talking about how this group is incapable of playing defense, and doesn't have '2 way players' to be effective on that end of the court...this group CAN play good defense. It just comes down to staying consistent with focus and effort.
I think this game makes it even more frustrating (in a good way). Now they have shown how well they can play on defense, its frustrating to think how they could've played previously. They also have to work at keeping that intensity up no matter what team they're playing.
Niang was especially good in help defense on Hield, and Spangler struggled big-time. McKay was more effective than he has been all season. Hopefully he can keep up whatever he was doing last night.

Sure you want to be consistent in focus and effort. It's important, but not everything. Depends a lot on matchups too. Like, does the team have good post play? How are they attacking the boards so they don't get 2nd chance pts. For example, Niang can guard Spangler better than guarding Ellis. OU makes a lot of 3's, they present a different challenge. Just think Baylor is a tough matchup for us, but KU might be worse. Thomas will have to guard a quick 2nd pg. on the floor in Graham, which puts Nader on Seldon, and Niang on Ellis. Boy, idk. Look forward to see if they can continue to improve and be effective on the defensive end, tho. But first TCU!
McKat and Nader either listened in team meeting or were reading CF. MUCH IMPROVED FROM PREVIOUS GAMES.McKay looked like his old self. 4 blocks and 13 rebounds I think.
