So, everyone is only allowed to talk
And since this is in the Football forum, i was referring to football in the '80s. Last I checked LaFester played basketball. And yes, I realize we did have bball success in the 80s.
So, everyone is only allowed to talk about the current ISU football team. Nothing at all about anything in the previous 132 years. Got it boss.

I mean the current team is 7-0 for the first time in damn near 90 years so in the absolute hell wants to talk about Iowa State football from the 80's and 90's?

Guys I know we are awesome right now but remember when we were complete garbage in the 1980's, got dog walked most every Saturday; then got put on probation and lost scholarships for it? A truly magical era... Good times.

I said “games”. I didn’t specify what sport. I mentioned Lafester because that was a recent conversation, but David Archer, Alex Espinoza, Keith Sims, Karl Nelson and Dwayne Crutchfield are among others who have been talked about in the not long distant past.

There was a guy named Dennis Gibson who had his moments, too.

Feel free not to be an ignorant, nitpicking ass. You can start any time.

Part of talking about unprecedented success is putting it in perspective of where and how far we have come. It is a natural part of it all. Just like we have talked about not having started 7-0 since 1938 or having never gotten 10 wins in a season. That 1938 thing is a hell of a lot further back than the 1980s when some of us were students at Iowa State.

It is a natural thing to do but you can always skip reading those posts if you don't like it.

Please allow me to clarify.

I remember when I thought turning twenty-five was “old”. lol.

I remember when I thought thirty would be old.

I was wrong.

I remember turning forty, I thought I was close to dying.

I was wrong.

I remember approaching fifty, and thought that finally had to be “old”.

I was wrong.

Fair warning? Sixty sucks, because your body decides it doesn’t have to work right any longer.

I’m sorry that some of you are butthurt because someone else was less than tactful in indicating that claiming that age 35 is “old”.

Well, you’ll understand when you get there.

In the meantime, there’s no reason to be so juvenile about a “dumb” emoji. It’s just one cranky old curmudgeon’s, probably with aching knees, opinion.

Congratulations if your body just started "not working right" at 60...

Seeing a player I remember watching when I was young have his child become an ISU recruit makes me feel old. I’m 31. Shoot me
