IMO, it looks like our Coaching Staff is pushing hard to address the needs of our 2015 Football team. Some impact Juco's are being recruited very hard. I am optimistic about our chances of getting those we are after. These guys will have a definite impact on our team.

Not sure what the point of the thread is. But yes, we're going to need a lot of good juco players if we want to win more than 2-3 games next year.

The point is.........that we will sign the players needed IMO. Time to get positive...........instead of constantly negative.

Perhaps if you knew what was happening on the recruiting front.

looks same ol, same ol to me

Remember last year how we got one of the top JUCO linebackers and he was supposed to help fill the holes in that position group? Can anyone remind me how that worked out? Oh, that's right...we're hoping that same player can do the same thing NEXT year.

When I saw the thread title I thought it was going to be about how poor our recruiting has been.

Yep. And the decision was made to Redshirt Jordan Harris and have 2 good years rather than have him not be fully ready for this year. Which might pay off very well since his old teammate Demond Tucker will get to play with his good friend Jordan Harris for 2 years instead of just 1 year.

The Linebackers were actually less of a problem than our DT's this year. And we lost Miller after the decision was made to RS Harris. Glad we did not foolishly pull the RS on him. It was better for Seeley and Meeks to play.

Proof is in tasting of the pudding. The pudding recently seems to never make it to the field.

And that is the risk with JUCO's. They come from playing in an undisciplined system where they just run around and make tackles to a system in which they have specific assignments. Sometimes it takes them time to make the adjustment and in this case we were lucky he had redshirt year to use and get adjusted.

They definitely no where to look and they got some good players on campus. Problem is even if we get these guys they are still a level below a lot of players in the conference and the depth we have isn't great. That's part of being Iowa State and probably always will be. I'm optimistic about next season, but a 2 or 3 win season won't surprise me.

What is the point of this thread? (if any)

Pump that sunshine. Pump it! Pump, pump, pump! What else you going to do? Without drastic changes, no reason to expect much difference in next year's results. So gotta do something. Might as well start the offseason hype early instead of letting the realists hold sway.

What is the point of posting in this thread if you have no interest in the football program anymore? Jump off the bus. Go follow basketball, stay in the basketball threads, and be frontrunner fans.

It's not about that. The thread title suggested that maybe the coaches just signed a new player or something like that. I came in to see what it is that they just did to improve recruiting and instead just read a thread about absolutely nothing.

He can't say much because the info comes from a pay board.

2 BIG needs have said they plan to sign with ISU. No announcement of committment because they still plan to take another visit or 2.

I do find it funny that the same group of people saying the staff needs to sign all these JUCOs, comes into a thread hinting at signing JUCOs and acts like its not going to help anything.

I am respecting the other board......and Chris and the CF staff want that to be the case. Hopefully things fall the way we want and we do indeed get the guys we are after. And yet, I am betting the naysayers are still negative.

I hope we land a bunch of difference makers, especially on defense, here in the last couple months before signing day, that can come in and play for us right away. But I will believe it when I see it.

My biggest problem is that 6 years in to your career as head coach, you should be bringing back a bunch of 3 and 4 year players with a ton of experience, and then at signing day you are just getting a bunch of talented high school kids to fill the cupboard with that you hope will be able to play a few years down the road when they are good and ready.

Instead, we are looking for a bunch of guys at the last minute that can hopefully come in and start for us all over the field at various positions. That is very worrisome, and it usually does not end well. It is not the way to build your football team and program at all.

And no, don't compare it to what Fred does.... that is basketball which is completely different.
