Oh for crap's sake. Got a ticket in the mail from Clive for doing a right turn on a red (pinkish! with no one coming towards me!) light.

Has anyone fought such a thing and won?

It tagged my husband as the driver (registered in his name) but I was driving. He has more tickets than me right now ... anyway to move it to my name rather than his?

Probably what frost me the most is the statement at the top that says 'it *appears* you have run a red light...' What the fudge - 'appears'?????
:arghh:

Camera tickets work the same as parking tickets. They go to the registered owner of the car and do not go on your driving record or cause any change in your insurance.

Do I have to be the guy that says don't run red lights if you can't handle getting a ticket?

A guy I work with got a ticket at the same intersection. He was going to fight it because the camera took the picture while his break lights were on. But the video clearly shows he rolled the light.

I think they are BS. Tickets should only be given by a human officer. Camera tickets are basically one more step towards loss of freedom in the USA. They should be illegal to use.

Should security cameras be used to identify a robber/burglar/criminal etc.?

Not that I'm a huge fan of camera tickets, but how is it any different getting a ticket with a human vs. a camera? In both cases you broke existing traffic laws, they didn't write new ones for the camera. I don't think it's a loss of freedom. Even if you aren't seen by a cop you are still required to follow the law.

I go through that intersection to work every day. I'm actually kind of glad that thing is there. The number of people who buzz through that intersection is insane.

The one thing I don't care for, at night or darker days, that flash is really annoying/distracting.

And if you obey the lights - typically don't have trouble. Amazing how that works.

I don't have a problem with Red Light cameras but I do have a problem with speed cameras.
