Spent lunch hour figuring how many penalties we have had in the red zone. Then did inside the opponents 35 as I see this as a scoring territory.

Red Zone
9 trips....5 penalties
55% of our trips

Inside the 35 (these include the red zone trips)
15 trips- 9 penalties
60% of our trips.

Results of drives with penalties in these areas.
Inside 35 (these include red zone numbers and we had multiple penalties on some drives so that is the reason for the disparity from above)
FG-3
TD-1
no points-4 trips (two were turnovers) two lost on downs

Red zone
FG-3
TD-1
No points- 2 (both were turnovers)

Conclusion
Red zone- 9 trips to the redzone and 4 TDs. Three out of those four have come when we don't have penalties. One time we overcame the penalties and scored a TD. Penalties resulted in 3 FG and two tunrovers.

Penalties are killing us and taking points off the board. BTW- I do not guarantee the accuracy of these numbers. I crunched them real quick

I think there are a few things killing us, but yeah, the penalties aren't helping.

Good analysis. I noticed this myself during the K-State game. We basically got penalized every time we got into the redzone. We were a team that was struggling to score points, not necessarily a team that was struggling to move the ball. Those calls were turning TD's into FG's or TO's. You fix that issue, and we have a whole different ballgame on our hands.
