Looking at replacing all the windows in my house. Sick and tired of the BS Pella ProLine windows. Had Anderson Renewal from WDM in yesterday. Got their quote today. $35k for the whole house. About what I expected. Anyone use them before? Specifically the WDM location. Guy was super nice and an ISU grad to boot so that was a positive. Still alot of money to pull the trigger on though.

19 windows and 2 patio doors. Some pretty big windows too. I will never own Pella again. The suckage of their ProLine windows is beyond anything I can forgive. Got 15yrs out of them.....barely.

I'd be nice too if I was selling 35 K worth of windows. Have to think there are better quality and value combinations out there.....

Such as? I'm a big fan of Anderson. Love the fact their windows are made of a composite. Not a fan of vinyl windows and the wood ProLine from Pella has just rotted away over the years. Want something to last. If it costs to make it last then I am ok with that. I knew they were probably the most expensive option when I called them, but I am no window expert and don't really know what/who else is out there that is worth a damn.

If you are staying and are ok with paying that then go for it. Was just wondering cause if u were only going to stay for a bit longer, no way you get that money back.

We used Clear Choice when we replaced all the windows in our house about five years ago. It wasn't a huge house, about 1800sf, but total cost was around $5K. I don't know very much about windows, but I thought the quality was decent and I think it was a good selling point when we put the house on the market a couple years later.

check into Marvin windows good quality for the money, casements are tighter than double hung windows fiberglass outside wood in the inside. Is it 19 windows or 19 opening ? Sounds like a lot for replacement windows. Way too much money.

This was my thought initially as well. Replacements are pretty simple. I can understand wanting Anderson windows but sounds like they are killing you on labor. My father did his house 2 years ago and was just shy of 7 grand installed and he had 4 windows that were special order. Jo they weren't Anderson but are a good window. Way better than what he had.

That's way too much for that. There are more options out there-just look a little longer. Andersen are good, but are expensive.

I also went with Clear Choice when it was time for new windows in my house three years ago. Paid about 8k to have 40 new windows installed. So far so good. Plus the double hung vinyl is super easy to clean.

That is 1600 dollars per window/door. Go to Home depot, they sell Andersen window and doors, price similar sized windows. Then go to a small town lumber yard that sells Andersen (Fajen Lumber in Elk Horn Iowa or Avoca Building center in Avoca Iowa. Small lumber yards dont stock these items so they just charge a handling markup. When at the local lumberyard see if they actually have crews or who they would recomend to measure for you. 48" x 48" casement windows should cost you about 500 bucks I believe and probably a thousand or so to have it installed. Maybe custom sizes are much more expensive? I think $1000-$1200 per window should get you done 1200x19= $22,800 Patio doors wont cost 13000 dollars. The salesman's commision is probably 7-15 percent. An experienced carpenter will be better about advice unless this sales person has been in the business for over 10 years. AVOID salespeople that give evasive answers about specific questions. I have been in the in home construction sales for over 20 years. Also check home depot and their installers, it might not be as cheap, but might be cheaper than Renewal by Andersen. I have all Anderson in my home love them.

Andersen and Pella are very similar. Call Lowe's and set up appointment with PSE. They will measure, show you samples and give you a price at your home.

Wife and I had Anderson replacement windows installed in our house. We were impressed with the quality of their composite windows as well. Had received quote from several vinyl outfits as well. Although they were the most expensive, we are planning to be in this house for the foreseeable future and wanted a quality product. That being said, if you can wait until spring Renewal runs a special that will reduces the price for each window bought over a certain amount. If you feel like it you could probably ask for that special now to lock in your price as I am sure after probably January they will institute 2014 year pricing. We worked with Dave, couldn't be happier with their product, and their crews were very fast and cleaned up after themselves.
