The response to my post has really solidified my surprise that so many of our fans have apparently longed to be in the Big 10 this whole time.

I didn't say it didn't make sense from a geographic or monetary standpoint, but I guess if being able to drive from Iowa is a big part of the decision then most of you are in.

I will watch the Cyclones play anyone, but I doubt that I ever get invested in other conference games again when this all goes down.

I have not longed for the B1G. You said something about how it wasn't our best option, which it very clearly is. That's what we are "longing for"

This is incorrect. You are adding a lot more conference games to inventory. The networks are starved for live content. This guy doesn’t have a clue.

Could ISU/KU also not assign their rights under the Big 12 GOR to the Big Ten to help them ease the financial losses of the last year? That might help KU/ISU in the short term, and didn't NU/Rutgers/MD initially get less than the other teams in the league when they first joined?

I would think if the Big 10 did take us, there would be some sort of agreement that includes a reduced payout

to texas ->have fun playing championship games in atlanta, never will they be in dallas again
have fun playing sec basketball

folks this problem is solved get JP on the phone
and it is so easy
decentralized algo determines all scheduling and money based on ratings, which seed everyone

texas will be king of the hill, make the most money, and they deserve too if they have the most eyes on the game, byu wants to join, no problem

Texas also wants to be able to tell recruits they are in the SEC. That is the one thing they can't tell recruits. The thing that changes everything is moving the playoff to 12 teams. Teams aren't going to be as scared of losing a game here or there if they know they can still get into the playoffs.

Sure, I'll have us taking $10 million a year for a few years. We'll take a loan to pay for salaries and stuff but that will be paid back in no time.

ISU is “right sized” and prime for a B10 spot. Up and coming program with decent fan base and top notch facilities, but not quite a big dog blue blood that will keep OSU or Michigan from being concerned.
B10 gets a natural rival and can add conference games, keep travel expenses low, increase gates at MN, ILL, etc. another wresting program. BB blue blood, and doesn’t sacrifice academics. Of all the schools out there honestly they’d be dumb not to invite us.
Do you harness and grow what ISU in conference? Or do you risk having a sleeping giant emerge in your back yard that’s in a different conference?

This is what our AD is pitching to the b10 and sec right now. We are already at Wisconsin and Michigan State type AD now. Do they want to pass on us and watch us continue towards a Michigan, OSU or Florida type level? I doubt it. They will want in on this storm.

our AD brings in considerably less money than Wisconsin, Michigan State, and even Iowa. We do not have the donors.

I cannot get over how epic of a failure this is by Bob Bowlsby. Written (or spray-painted) on his headstone will be the words "Killed the Big 12."

look at the ratings, we are going to be in a conference there is little doubt

and if we dont we are reforming the big 12 into a disruptive conference by changing everything

Also. No matter what people will say, KU is still yoked with KSU. People think this gives KSU an advantage over ISU. But what it does is hinder KU.
KU’s main liability is their football. No one wants to watch it. They are completely dependent on their opponent for TV eyes while ISU can hold its own. How many casual college football fans are going to watch a KU/Rutgers game on a Saturday afternoon? Contrast that with an ISU/Rutgers game. ISU football is magnitudes more valuable than KU. ISU will give a net gain while KU would actually detract from whatever game they are playing.
