Fans-wise I know I've talked to a few Bucky fans that love them some B1G, and thought ISU in the B1G would make sense and be fun.

This was more in the 'traditional regional' type of convo.

I think this is the line of thinking that needs to dominate the Big Ten discussions. The SEC is not where it’s at solely because it’s cornered a few big markets in the South. It’s tradition and regionality that allows them to dominate. ISU needs to be added to the Big Ten for this reason. Add a sleeping giant that is guaranteed to bring eyeballs outside of the state of Iowa.

This weekend is going to suck from a fandom standpoint with this news hanging over Cyclone Nation.

Two Points:

1-K State isn't getting into the Big Ten or Pac12. Their academics are a boat anchor.

1-Any contract and GOR is only enforceable to the point at which the affected party is willing to pay to defend it.

Important to note that should three teams besides OU and TX move on from the Big 12, all that money they owe the remainers is null and void, as well as the auto bid for the CFP. At that point there is no Big 12.

And, so it is clear, US News and World Report Rankings have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with admission or expulsion from the AAU.

What does AAU status depend on? Just curious. There are a handful of schools that have neither an engineering or medical school, which is confusing.

The response to my post has really solidified my surprise that so many of our fans have apparently longed to be in the Big 10 this whole time.

I didn't say it didn't make sense from a geographic or monetary standpoint, but I guess if being able to drive from Iowa is a big part of the decision then most of you are in.

I will watch the Cyclones play anyone, but I doubt that I ever get invested in other conference games again when this all goes down.

I believe it's basically based on research money and areas of research. I think rankings are pretty much worthless unless you are going to grad school. Like an undergrad education at K-State or Oklahoma State isn't just as good as an undergrad education at ISU or KU. Half of these schools have TA's teaching freshman and sophomore classes.

Probably the harsh reality of things.
The part that people making this point don’t seem to get is that it puts the BIG in a weak point where their big schools start looking elsewhere.

Do they sit and wither away or do they try and bring people in who can help them keep their muscle against the SEC. if the BIG does nothing they will die in the next 5-10 years as the SEC takes over everything.
