He better get the starting job going forward. His progressions were great, has excellent touch on the short throws (biggest skill needed to succeed in a Campbell offense) and the missed long balls to Noel were close and I believe he will be able to hit some of them moving forward. Even Purdy, the best QB in ISU history, wasn't great at those and usually underthrew those types of throws but he was often throwing to an NFL-level, big body receiver that could come back to the ball and box out the DB. Showed great evasiveness in the pocket on the one or two times he needed to show it with a Purdy-esque high step over a would be large sack.
Not saying he's a world beater but if given the starting job full time he will improve as the season goes forward. I believe that with him as the starter we can place top half of the Big 12, especially with how this weekend's games played out for many of the other teams in the league.
