Did anyone else see Gottlieb on SportsCenter this morning? He had Royce as his 5th best prospect in this years draft. I was a little surprised by this, but has anyone heard how his workouts and other things are going, he must be impressing a lot of people!

everyone agrees he has top 10 talent, but he will get knocked down the draft board because of his height, "off court issues" and his anxiety.

I wouldn't be surprised if Doug thought Royce was just the 5th best talent straight up in this year's draft. Royce is ultra skilled and, as of right now, is at least close to the top 5 in terms of overall talent. I don't know how he'd be on a list of players ranked by potential though.

The thing with Royce is that I can see him excelling as a featured sixth-man. As a change-up off the bench where the second unit offense runs through him, I think he could be an absolute beast for the right team.

I'm not as confident, however, that he'll be the kind of savior starter that a true lottery team would need him to be. That's why I think he'll drop down the draft board.

That's odd. I wonder why Gottlieb feels the need to shine Royce on? He's on record saying Royce's anxiety would be a problem for his numerous NBA contacts. He can't possibly think Royce is top five. Errrrrrr he figured out he was dead wrong?

Just saw that on Sports Center. My first thought was "Holy ****!"
My second thought was that in a way, I hope he goes lower. I agree with MNCyGuy, Royce isn't a savior for lottery pick teams. I would love to see him on an established team where he begins his career as the first player off the bench and then becomes a solid starter.

This is also what I am worried about.

I just want him to go to a team that needs and will use hime. I want him to play and not get stuck in the d-league.

The top of the draft will be all about potential and teams will reach on one-and-dones who are athletic and talented, but not that great at basketball yet.

If he falls till later in the first round the best case scenario is that he ends up on a good team that needs someone of his skillset. I would hate for him to get done like Brackins.

Compared to what else I see projecting in the lottery(see Drummond), I think Royce fits right in. Sure, he's not going to win a scoring title but I can see him having A LOT better career than Oliwakandi, Li(chinese dude), and the many other lottery reaches. If you can simply find a solid starter in the lottery, I think you've done good.

Its probably because he doesn't play for ISU anymore so it is ok for Dougie to like him.

He also had Andre Drummond at #3, I think.

What I just wrote above is why I really can't get into the NBA that much. I understand it's all about "potential", but it irks me when a guy like Drummond, who barely showed up when we beat UCONN, will get drafted ahead of RW solely based on that "potential".
