So--you're saying that it's a very thin year for talent in Iowa this year???

Not sure what your problem is with this kid other then you seem to have a thing against in state talent.

Looks like a damn good pickup to me. Assuming he has a redshirt year, he will fill Woody's spot nicely by his sophmore year.

Barkley Hill is a very solid football player. He reminds me a lot of a future fullback/3rd down/goal line back. He will be a very good change of pace from our other, faster backs. He will play the game smart and not be doing stupid things to hurt the team, (see getting arrested, fumbling the football, or any other issues). Getting guys like this is how we will be a much better football team, and be able to compete.

I also love how many people would be angry if this story was "Barkley Hill commits to Iowa" and people would be saying "Rhoads needs to get the Iowa players to compete". He is not just some guy who would never see the field and is a great pick up IMHO

Yeah, just like any other year. There's a reason Oregon and Notre Dame were sending him stuff. He's a good enough athlete to play here.

Haha, I don't know what this kid did to your mother, but you need to let it go.

I will admit that his sophomore film wasn't impressive, but his Junior year looks awesome. He gained a lot of speed in one year. He actually reminds me of Standard with more size. I've never seen a hs running back run as well between the tackles.

Great in-state pickup... That kid's a ballplayer and see him playing special teams early.

I'll take any RB with a name like Barkley Hill. When I hear that name, I think of a bowling ball rolling down a lane, knocking over all ten pins.

I don't have a clue where you get that impression. Perhaps you should read more carefully.

Schools "send stuff" to thousands of players. I know of a kid who was "sent stuff" from Alabama as a quarterback a couple of years ago--and didn't receive a single D-I offer to play football.

Excuse me? Is there some reason to bring my mother into this???

His running style reminds me of Earl Campbell - he just runs over guys and rarely goes down on first tackle attempt. Yeah, he's going to see some playing time at ISU as long as he stays healthy, grades, all the usual stuff.

And those runs straight up the middle where he runs right past/through both Safeties - that's plenty fast enough.

Aclone, you're a late adopter. It's a new day in ISU FB. Come join us in the present and come in from the cold already.

Drink your kool-aid and don't be a "Debbie Downer." That's how it works here. Get with the program.

Sorry, I'm just hoping we're not back to the bad old days, when McCarney offered Iowa kids solely because they were Iowa kids. I swear he had a quota he had to fill.

Reads like a passive aggressive blast to me.

The kid dosnt hardly loose any speed on first and second contact. This could be a good one.

Ok, I'm down with this. I can see a need for player like this. Sounds like he could be like Iowa's Adam Robinson, not real fast but tough to take down and get you those yards after contact.

I hope he can get a heck of a lot faster!

Or is he going to walk on?

You guys are nuts. 4.59 is plenty fast for a RB. Heck Troy Davis ran a reported 4.8, which is one of the reasons he never stuck in the NFL. Darren Davis only ran a 4.7. That's the same range Ennis Haywood was in too. Duane Crutchfield only ran a 4.7.
