NC state quarterback Russell Wilson has decided to transfer and he will be eligible to play this season. He has one year left, we should take a chance at him right?

I remember watching this kid play a bit last year, he is very athletic and very talented.

He would be better than any QB we have but I'm not sure he'd have time to get in and be prepared to start by September.

Jeremiah Masoli really struggled to make the quick transition from Oregon to Ole Miss.

No, exhibit one:Masoli. Steele was here last spring and picking up the offense is something he will have to work on all summer. Asking this kid to come in and learn it in a couple months is a stretch. Short of someone like Denard Robinson or Taylor Martinez, I don't think there's the amount of talent needed to overcome the simplistic offense we would have to run to accommodate their knowledge of the system. That's my view anyway.

Agree, in most situations basketball transfers could step in and play within a week or two of practicing with the team. The same can't be said for football transfers, especially QBs. Not worth it for a kid with only year remaining.

What kind of baseball facilities does ISU still have? He's not eligible for baseball anymore after playing minor league ball, but I'd guess that he would be interested in continuing workouts for baseball, in addition to football. So that could be an obstacle for ISU if they were interested.

Maybe a rusty pitching machine? Anywho, it doesn't matter he isnt coming here nor should we look at getting him.

Either Tom O'Brien is a ******* or there are some underlying issues. This kid led the conference in just about every offensive stat! And now he wants to make him the backup. Wow! Do we need him, no. Can we use him, yes. We have an athletic QB on our roster that was also a 3 year letterman in baseball and basketball. And he wears #16. He just needs a real chance to prove his worth. The 5-11 200lb Wilson did great with his opportunity! Seems like the coach has "Cam Newton" dreams.....the Glennon guy that he named the starter is 6-6 217 lbs. I hope they get their ***** whipped!

I think we'd be crazy not to take this kid. He averaged 307.5 yards of offense per game. Our offense combined last year averaged 317.4 yards per game. He is every bit as dynamic (taking into account he is a MUCH better passer) than Robinson or Martinez.

When would he show up to start learning the offense? I don't know when minor league baseball ends, but if he doesn't have time to look over a playbook until August that could be an issue.

To make a correction, Russell Wilson has two years to play. He graduated in three years and used his redshirt the first year he was at NC State. What is up in the air, however, is whether or not he would use that last year of football eligibility. He was picked in the Major League Baseball draft and is playing in the Colorado Rockies organization presently.

my guess if he goes anywhere it will be south carolina. fb will be top ten this year if they can get a qb, and bringing him in allows sc to remain strong on garcia's suspension. baseball is a top three program and were national champs last year. i know he could not play baseball but the facilities that the gamecocks have built are better that most in the country.

Um, yes please! He remindes me a lot of Seneca Wallace. Undersized but great arm and mobility. I'd take him in a second!

However, it would be some kind of miracle if he came here. We didn't recruit him and as far as I know have no connection or relationship with the guy. I bet he stays out east.

Maybe we can get Bobby Lutz to put in a good word. :jimlad:
