Looking forward to our 2nd season in The Village. Now that the realignment talk has calmed down and football season is upon us I have an important topic for which I need some advice. We travel from southeast Iowa, up 218 & 380 to 30 (vice versa to get home). Last year we would dump at the 380 rest stop south of CR on our way home. However, the Iowa DOT has closed all the public dump stations. Where are people (specifically those heading east) dumping their tanks?

Try this to search along your path home. https://rvdumpsites.net/#!Iowa&query=region

No clue on a correct answer but does Ledges have a campground where you can do this?

A little out of your way but on the North side of Marshalltown there's Riverview Park/Campground that has a dump station.

Morgan Creek has one for those that stayed in the campground but not sure how closely they monitor that. Very easy access now with the 100 extension and E Ave exit.

With the growing number of truck stops along the interstates I guess a lot of the rest areas aren't needed as much. I have to say though, if you just need to use the facilities the rest areas are better, 5 minutes to pull in, do your business, and be back out on the interstate.
Removing those on I29 between Sioux City and Missouri Valley does seem like it will leave a void unless someone is planning on a Loves or Pilot somewhere in between.

Is there a dump station at Twin Anchors just outside of Nevada on Highway 30?

There is it is typically for campers who stay at the facility but if you call they might just charge you 5 or 10 bucks. Maybe nothing depending on the day.

This is not great news... We are from the Twin Cities and store our RV just north of Ames. It was great to hit one of the two rest stops just north of Ames and dump. Now we will have to find an alternative I guess. On a side note, we were Vet Med campers and now looking forward to the RV village.

I'm not sure but that's heading the wrong direction for us. But thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks-I'll need to check into that. How is it for navigating through town towing a 5th wheel?

Could you take 80? There are a number of spots you could dump along there. Loves Truckstop in Newton for starters.
That may up being our best option. I'd rather avoid 80 but traffic on Sundays usually isn't too bad.

I hope you enjoy the village. We have. Hopefully my post gives everyone who was planning on using the rest stop dump stations time to find an alternative.

Omaha, NE
I read that they closed them all. We head over from Omaha every game and used to stop at the last I-80 rest area before Council Bluffs. Now they are closed and cemented over.

We are just going to stop at the Loves on the way back and spend the $10 each time. About the only option unless you want to go out of route to a camp ground.

And the RV Village is awesome. My wife and I are really looking forward to it again this year.
