Work with a guy who is family friends with the Scherffs. He said on Thursday that Brandon's dad said he would play. Smart? Who knows but I bet he gives it a go. Hell, Jake Knott played with his arm strapped to his side and was big 12 player of the week.

This happens almost every single year with Iowa and it's usually a lineman. It's hilarious at this point and obvious gamesmanship.

Thayer Evans of Sports Illustrated is reporting that Scherff will start today.

In the past decade this exact scenario has happened about half the time in this game. I thought the surgery aspect may make this year different but should have trusted my instincts of what has happened every other year.

If Scherff wants to play, let him.

Has it even been confirmed that he had surgery, regardless of how minor it may have been? The SI article says Kirk would not confirm or deny.

KF wouldn't reply because the reporter did not go through the Athletic department which is procedure. He was not happy with KCRG and he reporter.

No, but the first people to report it had very close ties to Denison, so it seemed pretty accurate. This whole thing is gamesmanship, which is dumb on Iowa. ISU is going to prepare for Sherff regardless, and if he doesn't play, they will still be ready.

Sooo...not confirmed? I'm not going to criticize them for playing a guy who just had minor surgery if that minor surgery didn't actually happen. It's not uncommon for a starter who is banged up to rest during the week and play on Saturday.

If he plays, he must not have had surgery. Or he is playing against medical advice (which would void any insurance policy on future injury). No way a doctor clears him for this weekend. Again, assuming he actually had the procedure.

Our coach's are idiots if they don't expect this when it happens every single year in Iowa's Super Bowl prep. I'd be taken off guard if this hadn't played out this way.

I will be surprised if he plays. I would hate to see a career ending injury because the rushed get him back on the field.

If it was just a meniscus tear that didn't need to be sewn together, but rather a procedure to remove damaged tissue, there is no risk in further injury. It will just depend on the amount of pain he can tolerate. There are "things" they can do to alleviate pain.

Exactly. Im really not sure what advantage KF thinks it gives him. I dont think our staff cares at all. Prepare for Scherff and if he does not play, you're just over-prepared.

Not so sure about that at all. One of our guys had surgery not too long ago and was back in no time.

This is the best I could do.... wanted to get a pic of Wendell laying on the table and Coach Kilmer telling the trainer to give him the shot.....
