Does anyone know if TJ historically has done the senior speeches after the game like Prohm did?

Good to know. There were a lot of things I was very happy with that Steve did, and the senior day speeches are one of them. I hope TJ keeps them going along with the reunion in the summer.

These were ok, but cringe for me ever since the year Prohm got called out by a jackass and then gave him a jackass response. Just let them Tweet stuff out.

What that the year Prohm clapped back and said "thanks for the support"? Or something like that?

Maybe I'm remembering wrong but didn't we do the come out with the family and take pics with jersey thing before the game AND speeches after?

So I understand the before-the-game thing is happening. But are the speeches after?

The thing most people missed was someone yelled at THT. Came from the same area behind me; probably same guy. THT yelled back. It was not pretty.

The speeches are as dumb as Prohm was.
I liked them in the early years when we said goodbye to guys like Georges, Naz, Matt, Monte, Abdel, Jameel, Deonte, etc. Pretty awful after that though. Probably because there were no more endearing 4-year guys in the program...and the teams started to suck.

This exactly.

I wanted to see George this year.

For a long time the men's team never did speeches, just recognition before the game. Personally I like it when they do speeches but I would say leave it up to each player if they want to say something or not. The women have always done it and some years they get really LOOONNNGGG as in there have been years it took a full hour after the game to get through them. Always felt with the women's speeches that if you had 3 or more the group of them could come up with 1 speech to thank the coaching staff as a whole then they each get their own turn to thank their parents, family, fans etc and maybe a brief personal comment to Bill or an assistant they had a special connection with. Just seems like they all usually have the same generic thank yous when it comes to the coaching staff they could just have 1 collaboration on to save some time.

One thing I hope TJ carries on that Prohm did was the alumni reunion weekend/dinner he did once a year to invite back all the former coaches and players. To me that was a great event where current and former players got to interact and celebrate everything great about Cyclone Basketball. I remember Paul Shirley was interviewed or posted something on his social media after the 1st one how he was skeptical about attending but came away glad that he did and thought it was a great event. Some clips I found:

I really enjoy the senior night speeches that began during Prohm's tenure. I hope Otz continues the tradition.

If they don't interest you, you're free to leave once the game is over.

I will never forget Georges' farewell speech. "I was scared coming into tonight, because I don't want to leave this place."

Niang's was probably one of the best speeches I have ever heard. Was sincere and from the heart and even Prohm said he had an open invitation to be on his staff if he doesn't end of up actually taking his job instead. I dunno what Georges plans are for when he is done with the NBA but regardless who is coaching at the time he'd be a great guy to have on staff.

I really enjoyed Maddie Frederick’s senior speech, which seemed about as long as her total career minutes. Absolute legend.

Honestly one of my favorite speeches was a guy like Prentiss Nixon. A guy who played for a bad team, only for one year, but you could tell it was meaningful to him and I appreciated hearing him.

If people don't want to listen they can just leave, I don't know what the problem is.

Some people feel fulfilled by whining and b!tching about everything.
