I think it is crap to sit out a bowl game. Very selfish.
I've noticed he's almost exclusively used to block on third downs. Seems like he's accepted his role very well. I'd like to see him get more carries at the end of games when they're in hand, but I also understand wanting to get reps to Silas or Sanders. I'll be curious to see if Brock is the man next year, or if it's more tandem-back split between those 3
Might get killed for this, but I question Jirhel's vision. He's a big physical guy who runs hard, but he hasn't shown much wiggle. He has the physical profile to be a one cut downhill back like Breece, but when he gets the ball he's been kind of a no-cut back. He tends to get strung out without getting the corner and has had a pretty high pad level.
He's been great in pass protection and had a key 1st down reception against OSU. He hasn't gotten many pivotal carries, and it's hard to tell if he can take over as the clear number one. It's kind of anyone's guess how the staff view our remaining backs because Brock has been on the field for far more important snaps, but Silas has gotten more carries to show what he can do, although it's usually in garbage time.
Can we all just take a breath here? There is only message board speculation so far that Breece wouldn't play in a bowl game. Let's let the season continue to play out a bit.
As far as J. Brock, I think what we are seeing is a player that is kind of being hurt by the system he's in. Iowa State wants to win in the margins. Well, they still aren't good at that, so we are seeing a lot of close games. You can't give playing time to backups when the game is still teetering in the balance, save for an occasional breather which is what we're seeing now. It could also be, as others have stated, simply the fact that our RB1 is Breece Hall. If it were someone else, almost anyone else, I bet we'd see more of a time share. But it's Breece, legitimately a top 5 RB in the sport.

I met Jirehl's mom at the Baylor game. Very nice. I'm sure she'd agree with the question here.
Does Jirehl have any escape-ability / surge etc.? Such small data sets that I don't know. I'd love to see him get a few carries a game a la Kene, assuming he's a good college runner but I honestly don't know. I guess there's the value of less wear-and-tear on Breece.
What I do know is that he's been a team guy and has become a good pass blocker so he's a real contributor to this team's success. I tip my hat to the guy; playing behind an all-world dude isn't easy.
Yeah aside from Breece, I think the other guys will play. None really are shoe-in can't miss NFL Draft prospects. I could argue Charlie, maybe, only due to the injury history. In fact I would probably encourage Breece and Charlie to not play if ISU is in a non NY6 bowl.If we're speculating, I'd be fairly shocked if any of our players sat out the bowl game, as it goes against the selfless culture of the team. There are a lot of guys who could have moved on, but came back because of that.

I guess speculating is fine. It’s a message board, we’re supposed to talk. But this particular subject seems silly to me. If he plays in the game, if he sits out, it’s his decision, and it shouldn’t matter on the least to us. Being drafted as high as possible and getting a good career in the NFL is far more valuable to our program than playing in an exhibition game. It’s far more valuable to him as well. He can play if he wants to play. I’m not going to be upset if he doesn’t.If we're speculating, I'd be fairly shocked if any of our players sat out the bowl game, as it goes against the selfless culture of the team. I'm not going to disagree with your assessment. But I keep hearing people refer to bowl games as "an exhibition game". When ISU plays a NAIA or Div 2 team in basketball and the outcome doesn't appear on the team's season W/L record, that is an exhibition game. When a team finishes with a win in a bowl game and it bumps their season record from 9 wins to 10 it is no more an exhibition game than the non-conference games with which they started the season. All the wins matter.I guess speculating is fine. It’s a message board, we’re supposed to talk. But this particular subject seems silly to me. This. I know Kene is in the NFL but I figured he'd have close to Kene type numbers in terms of carries. Instead he as 7 more carries in 1 less game than he did last year as the 3rd back (20 this year to 13 last year) with 9 games played compared to 10 last year.Yes, we have the best RB1 in CFB and yes, Jirehl Brock should get a few more carries per game.

But it's not going to win a conference championship or improve the chance at making the playoffs, I hope BH plays every game he can as a Cyclone, but I will certainly understand and support him if he wants to forego it (calling him selfish for doing so is petty and short sided IMO).I'm not going to disagree with your assessment. That was not my point. It does neither, but it counts in the program's season and overall W/L totals so it is not an exhibition game as Harimad - as well as several others - called it.But it's not going to win a conference championship or improve the chance at making the playoffs, I hope BH plays every game he can as a Cyclone, but I will certainly understand and support him if he wants to forego it (calling him selfish for doing so is petty and short sided IMO).
