Show Out and Snot Wipe

Ok, I must be getting old (40).

1 - Can somebody tell me why it's the "thing" to say "show out" rather than "show off" or "show up"? It's all of a sudden said a hundred times a telecast and in every sports story.

2 - Can somebody tell me why every big play has the player doing the damn wiping his nose up his hand/arm thing? Receivers with a first down, any player with a TD, defenders with a big stop - they all have allergy runny noses. Like do they need some Claritin or Allegra? Maybe some Flonase?

I've seen show out randomly for a couple years but it's all of a sudden the cool thing to do by the media and analysts. Like they looked up "promising trends for 2022" and jumped in the deep end.
