I have it and its been a couple months now. From running on an injured Achilles and the compensating mechanics ended up damaging the nerve. Very painful from my left butt cheek down to my knee. Hard to walk, sit and stand.

Been to the doc and the steroids did nothing. Going to physical therapy (water) and it seems like a waste of time and money. Anyone else have to deal with this? How long did it take for the nerve to calm down?

Don't know if you have tried this already, but I had a friend who had a problem with that nerve and he thought chiropractic care helped.

Late last summer I developed bursitis in my hip and the more I moved, or event sat, the more it bothered me. Developed a limp. Consistently saw a chiropractor that helped, but never solved it. In early December it went into crazy spasm that last for several days. After a MRI that shed no light I tried acupuncture. Immediate, and long lasting results. Yemin at Family Acupuncture in Johnston.

I feel for you. I'm just getting past mine. I'd had back surgery two years ago and thought I was 100% better. Then 12/2 Sciatica hit me - hard. Laying down with any pressure on the butt cheek about killed me. Slow stretching and time are all that finally helped me.

Had it a couple years ago and I swear by chiropractic care. I think it's a good option for you. Took care of it and has never returned. But stretching and exercise is a big plus also.

I've had it.....took a good 6months to a year before I felt comfotable I wouldn't aggravate it doing things.

I'm not a fan of chiropractic, but your choice.

Be certain that it's not actually a ruptured disk. I thought that I only had sciatica back in 2011, but it was worse. You may want to have ann MRI done to be sure that you didn't rupture a disk. The surgery sucked, but it helped out big time.

Once you feel up to it, strengthening your core muscles is key, but be careful as it is VERY easy to hurt yourself. Getting started with a trainer or PT is worth the money. But you have to be really patient. Also, hot water seemed to help me.

Chiro helped me a lot. Try a couple to start as they are all not the same. I don't like the crack the back kind, and look for one that gets sport team referrals. Also, seeing a sports message therapist for leg, calf, hamstring, low back messages helped me tremendously. helped me,. And don't sit long or bent 90 degrees or more. Low

Good thing this fellow CF'er is a skilled Cyropract3r...

obviously i've never met you in person and can't diagnose on a description posted on the internet, but based on the little info provided I'd at least suggest for you to go in and get examined by a chiropractor to see what they say. I've had similar complaints from patients in practice, and sometimes it isn't sciatica but something else within the back that mimics sciatica instead. A proper exam would be needed to treat the specific cause or any additional problems that could be complicating matters.

Any specific questions or concerns (NOT over the phone/internet diagnosis, I won't do it) or need some one recommended to go to, just PM me.

There are about a million different causes of sciatica. You have to go see someone who can pinpoint the cause of your irritation
