Coming into the year many people on here, including myself, were expecting big years from Darks and Johnson with the new offense. Does anybody have any insight on why Darks hasn't performed like he did last year and why Johnson hasn't stepped up like many expected? Are they having a problem learning the new offense? I just find it a little suprising that Lenz is starting over Darks and Williams over Johnson. It seems like there is good competition at the WR spot, but I don't think ISU is as strong there as what everyone expected.
Also, Bo is #2 this week on the depth chart. He must be starting to get a grasp of the offense now. Schwartz isn't even one of the top 3 anymore after he started at Nebraska. I find that kind of suprising. It's good to have competition at the skill positions though as opposed to having a starter by default or lack of options.

I thought that I had heard that Sed and Darius were both battling injuries...could be wrong though

Darks and Johnson have both been hurt this year. Darks had something like a hammy issue that kept him out of preseason practices and you have to think that hurt him with learning the offense as well as playing. Lenz isn't surprising. He is fast, quick, and can make plays after the catch. We need more guys like Lenz that can make plays after the catch.. I think Darks, Reynolds, Lenz fit that role as well as a couple of guys coming in. That is not a knock on Hamilton or Williams. They both run great route, block, and have great hands. We need them just as much

One of my friends told me early in the season that we had the best set of WRs in the Big 12. True?

honestly right now we have the right type of wrs we have that combination of pos and speed, and next year should be even better, i think it will be interesting to see if sed n dd get out of their slump and i think they will, from what i heard darks was really catching on quick as of late and i think it showed vs tex a&m with 4 catches and 65yrds (i didnt get to listen to much of the game so idk if they were in clutch times or garbage) but either way i think the future is bright

I thought that Darks had his best game of the year by far.

I got blasted when I said it before the season but our WR core isn't very solid. Ranks in the bottom 3 of the league right now. There is a reason that the coaches continue to recruit and sign WR's.

With that said it doesn't help that our best WR went down with an season ending injury, and 2 of our top 4 WR's have had nagging injuries all year

I can. These guys have done a nice job but they are also getting a majority of the reps now and seeing a majority of the balls. No question they have done a VERY nice job for us given their lack of experience.....but....

their #'s are still average at best. We don't have a true go to WR which really shows on 3rd down plays.

Hamilton is our go to guy because of his strength and hands. I said the same thing you did about our WR corp. It is average. We have a hard time creating separation. Even a guy like Hamilton, who catches everything, gets balls with strength more than separation. We will mis Hamilton next year but I like what we have coming in. It seems we have some waterbug types with speed and quickness coming in.

Hamilton is our best WR right now but he isn't a GO TO WR if you get what I mean
