Who has one and what are your opinions of them?

Looking to get a P5 for shoulder and back issues I have and wondering if they're worth the money.

My parents just got rid of theirs after a couple years. They both hated it.

Been sleeping on a Sleep Number for about 7 years and love it. My setting is between 35 and 45 and as long as its set correctly, its great. Even with the nicest hotel mattresses, I can't wait to get back to it. i think it can be harder to find your range than they say.

We have one, series 10 or12 I think, before it we had a temperpetic (sp). I hated it, way to hard on my back and I would wake up sweating every morning.

Our sleep number is the half split version, with a full bottom, split top. I love that I can have a firmer setting, my wife a softer setting. We have the one that elevate your head and feet and has the vibrator in it. Set the timer and it returns to your normal sleeping setting.

Only think I do not like is the split between us, if you roll into the hole as we call it, you can get trapped. I would not get the split setup again.
They are expensive, but our bed has spoiled both my wife and I, and we have trouble sleeping in other beds now.
We have the King version, its smaller than a normal king, and only sleep number sheets will fit it. The bed does record or grade how you sleep every night. Does not do much for us, because the dog goes up there and lays down after we leave for work, and messes up the data.

Talking to people that have them, they either love them or hate them. They do have a 100 night guarantee if you want to try one out. If you do, be sure and get them to test you for your correct setting, and then work from that number. We have also been told that once a month you need to take the bed down to zero, and then refill it. We have just started doing this after having it for 5 years.

I have one and love it. But I crank it up to 90 which I would guess is firmer than anything else available.

Edit: just realized you said you had the split top where each side can elevate the top separately so you're probably talking about a different trench/hole.

I think it depends on what model you have. I noticed when I tried the C2 (which is their cheapest one) at the store that it had the feel of a regular air mattress.

The P5 doesn't have the feel of an air mattress because it has more padding on top.

You will spend one third to one fourth of your life in bed, just how much is a good nights sleep worth? Is the question you have to answer to yourself. Good luck, there are cheaper beds out there. Try some out and then decide, ask about their return policy if you do not love it, and spend a week or two trying each bed out. It will take you that long for your body to adjust to a new bed.

We've had one for almost twenty years. My wife is at around #60, and I'm at #100. I really like it.

Yeah, I've read where people complained about the "trench" in the middle. I asked about that at the store and they said the new models don't have it and I couldn't feel it when I tested the bed...but who knows after you sleep on it for a bit.

Edit: just realized you said you had the split top where each side can elevate the top separately so you're probably talking about a different trench/hole.

We have a newer model bought in February. We have a split top model king, and do not have “the trench effect” (sweet band name). I’m at sleep number 85 and my wife is at 35, and never slept better. Our sleep scores are usually in the upper 80’s-lower 90’s. We didn’t want to fork over all the dough at once for both a mattress and a base, so we are using our old box spring with ply board on it until they have a sale on bases. It works perfectly. I would personally not recommend Sleep Number’s pillows however.

I really like mine. Ex could go soft, and I kept mine higher. Although, depending on how my back felt, or if I wanted to sleep on my back or my side, I could change that too. Really liked that capability.

Which pillow did you have? I tried the ComfortFit curved at the store and I liked it.

I have trouble finding pillows and I've tried everything from memory foam to My Pillow. End up just getting the cheap $7 ones from Walmart because they're the most comfortable even though they don't last long.

I like the ability to have different settings for the two sides.

For me personally, I'm not a difficult sleeper so if it was just up to me I wouldn't spend the money on it.

LOL it's clean, except for some wine on the side. So damn expensive, got a special protective cover for under the sheets.

As far as why, gf does not want to sleep where the ex slept.

My parents have had theirs for 10 or 15 years and really like it. I've got another 4 or 5 family members who swear by theirs as well.

I don't especially like how you can feel the divider in the middle between the chambers. But I haven't spent that many nights in one. I'm still going to consider one next time around.
