Someone with one of those 3-D scanners/printers will reverse engineer that screw head in less than an hour.
That efficiency is usually lost in the time it takes to find an IT employee who can function in society and deal with an end user. So in other words, still switching tools.
A screwdriver for these will be available on the internet within 6 months of these products hitting the market place.
Yeah, that's why I say it's surprising they haven't done something like this until now.I hope some of you hate Sony, they do the same thing. Memory stick pro, anyone? Or any of their prior proprietary garbage?
A screw is the least of my concerns. There are always kits, available. Nintendo uses triwing ones. Chances are, if you do any work on these types of machines, one more tool isnt going to break you.
Try 6 hours.
I replaced glass on my ipod touch and lost one of the screws inside. I haven't been able to find replacements anywhere online. Any of you techies have a secret aftermarket apple site you use?

People criticize Apple, but
Flash has been dropped for mobile, and will be gone completely soon enough, to be replaced with HTML5. This is an Adobe thing, not Apple or Google.
The microSD was left out to keep costs down, so the nexus 7 could compete with the Kindle Fire.

I'm sure the micro sd controller was a real bank buster. Those are pretty much given away at this point.

Keep believing that microsd "was left out to keep costs down". They left it out for the same reason Apple did: to push profits up. Would the 16GB version have sold out so quickly, if they had included a microsd slot? No, many people would have purchased the 8GB version and expanded it. Google saw an opportunity to make people pay an extra $50 for something that costs them $15 (the additional 8GB) and ran with it.
This is the only reason I haven't purchased a Nexus 7. The microsd thing is a deal breaker for me. Perhaps if it had 32GB, I do without microsd, but 16GB isn't enough, especially when the system uses part of that and the real usable space is more like 12GB.
