Even if the Mrs. is frisky in the week after don't do it. You aren't safe until you prove you are shooting blanks and there is a lot of tender tissue that will be sure to make you pay for it later.

Oh, yeah, there's 2 fold advice there: the week is for pain, but the shooting blanks thing...do not just assume you're good, go get checked.

The worst part for me was the boys looked like the dog in Van Wilder before making the pastries. As long and you're relaxing for a few days you'll be fine. It took about a week before it didn't hurt to get in and out of chairs.

Yeah, probably make sure you pass the blank test a couple times. BFF has a sister (who actually had a twin that died in utero) who was born after the dad got snipped and passed the test.

A friend had problems with the insurance company when she became pregnant because they had paid for her husband's snip snip. He hadn't gone back for the testing.

While I'm not suggesting this in the case of your BFF's sister....we went to a comedian one time who got talking about vasectomies, and someone in the audience said that they had been in the clear for 10 years and they got pregnant because "one just got thru, I guess"...I sat there thinking..."I can think of a more plausible explanation on how you can be sterile for 10 years and your wife gets pregnant...."

I went back to my desk job that day and never took my pain pills. Just take it easy for a few days and you'll be fine.

Yeah, definitely not the case in this one. Only two years younger than the 2nd youngest and looks just like all of them. But yeah, 10 years would have me suspicious too. Though maybe the body just took that long to try and reconstruct the highway.

Lots if good advice in this thread. I tried running a week after the procedure and had to stop very quickly, and then I was really worried for a day of two about chronic pain. I was pretty much find after another week. Recovery time varies, so err on the side of caution.

Well, today is the day. Going in to get my vasectomy done this afternoon. Not going to lie, I am pretty nervous about the idea of someone putting a branding iron in my junk. I overreacting, right?

Meh, it's the easiest thing ever. Literally took 20 minutes for me. Your junk will be black and blue for a few weeks.

One other piece of advice. Tell the wife right now that she is in charge of the kids for the next two days. My doctor recommended I make that very clear to my wife. You need to rest as much as you can and there will be almost zero pain. The last thing you need is to be chasing around or picking up kids and even worse having one of them jump on you.

I set up shop on the couch and binge watched movies when the kids weren't around. When the kids were home we had a no daddy rule. The two older ones were allowed to sit by me if our youngest wasn't in the room. But our two year old had a 5 foot rule on her.

This. Great advice.

Just reading the thread title makes me squirm in my seat. I don't know why I even opened up this thread. :swoon:

Wife works in the OR and last last week they did a vasectomy in the OR because the patient was such a wuss he needed to be under general anesthesia for something that took < 10 minutes.

Don't be that guy.

Yeah, no kidding. I had local, no valium or whatever, and the very nice looking female doctor, the nurse, and I all chatted small talk the whole time. I even got a pretty good laugh out of both of them when I described my front lawn as so crappy looking "all it's missing is an early '80's Camaro sitting on blocks"
