I voted for sweet sixteen.....but by the wildest fantasies if we win a first round game, you are looking at Duke next. I guess I should have voted 1st round win.

This is a not too uncommon position for a team to end the regular season poorly .... Some recent examples are:

There are plenty examples of teams also crashing and burning to close out a season, but "it is not over until it is over".

I tried to recall teams that were fading down the stretch, then advanced a few rounds beyond expectation. I wasn't up to the task of that research, so I appreciate that you put together the chart.

I'm curious if you extend it to, say, final 10 games, to see how many teams that finished 2-8 or 3-7 advanced all that far in postseason.

Also, as you say, probably as many or more flame-outs than successful bounce-backs.
