So what's next for Pollard?

Now that the coaches are in place, season tickets sales are up, a plan is in place for future upgrades and our future identity has been established, what is next for JP?

I don't seem him as the type of person that would lean back in his chair and put his feet up.

I would really like to see him work on the Big 12 revenue sharing and a better TV contract although he obviously can't do this alone, he would be good at lighting a fire under other AD's.

What would the rest of you like to see him do next?

Are ADs permitted to help with recruiting? JP is a heck of a sales man and I wouldn't mind hearing about him helping us recruit some more talent into the programs. (unless it's not allowed, let's try and avoid NCAA violations)

I think he works on his plan for the future upgrades. And goes out trying to get NCC numbers up more. He needs to raise alot of money still to see the upgrades get done.

The plans are in place for the facilities, but he has a long way to go before we have the funding. I'm going to be really interested to see how he continues to raise money in innovative ways.

I think you hit it right there Sly. I think in theory the contract is actually pretty good for Big 12, BUT they need to allow revenue sharing and also allowing more then one Big 12 broadcast to be on at one time. (allowing regional coverages like through Mediacom, ESPN + or one of the Fox Sports regional plans. All of these teams need to be on TV as much as possible, it is the best way to build your conference!

When teams like ISU and Baylor start getting good exposure and can schedule mid pack BCS conference opponents and beating them, your conference looks great.

CyTech also mentioned NCC memberships and donations. I think that will be his first move as the TV thing will take longer to play out.

Go to Iowa?

He has said he is a builder, so who knows how long till he moves on and builds again.

I think he's put forth many goals, such as the facility upgrades that he now needs to see through. And yes, the TV revenue sharing would a logical step from here. We've got a growing program, more exposure and spending capital would really hit the spot. As far as the exclusivity clause, I still don't understand that whole one Big XII game at a time. Don't you think a regional games would draw a greater audience over the entire conference viewing area rather than one game for all areas? Apparently most all of the games are being taped anyways, why not use it?

I'm sure that is where JP wanted to go in the first place but settled for ISU.

I'm a little concerned about what JP will consider "built" but I think you can never raise enough money or have enough NCC members so hopfully that will keep him occuupied for a long time.

I know he built a house in north Ames and his kids along with Chizik's are in Gilbert's school system whch is a really good school district so hopefully this keeps him around for awhile. Even if he left right now, ISU is in better shape than it ever has been IMO.

I hope he sticks around until the stadium project is done, and we hit 50k season tickets!

1. Get the football programming winning...no victory until that happens
2. Get the basketball program stable...headed that way
3. Get the stadium and hilton plan funded
4. Increase donor revenue
5. Increase sales revenue
Once this is all done, he can retire or move to an NFL Gm position.

JP will hold course on football and WBB, MBB, wrestling - I would like to see some activity on the "other sports". The goals are comprehensive and involve every sport reaching the top half of the conference. Some facility issues remain to help VB and Gym which seem to be heading in the right direction. The others are way off the mark - when are the five years up?

Where do we stand on the academic support staff and facility?

What are the seating projections after they bowl in the south end zone? Could we get to 65k season tickets? That would be some major jack.

Quite screwing around with logo, uniforms, etc. and go get some athletes!!!

The screwing around with logo and uniforms MAKES THE UNIVERSITY MONEY and will HELP WITH RECRUITING. Go to Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - Iowa State Cyclones Sports and the free press conference on the clonezone. Pollard explains the national recognition problems with our logo and how that has hurt recruiting by creating confusion. And a new logo will sell apparel and make money to help build better facilities to attract athletes. Facilities make a huge difference. It all has to work together. I'm with you on getting more players. But this is all a part of that effort. I give Pollard credit for doing something about it.
