Here's the thing though. It's affiliated with the university, so they can't organize anything like the flop. I was told by a couple committee members that as much as they wanted to help, since it involved a player they couldn't.

I had an interview set up last year and chose not to follow through with it when I realized how little they can actually do. That said, having some fanatics on there wouldn't hurt matters.

Roommate and I have been throwing around the idea of establishing a student section within the student section so to speak. One that simply involves a Facebook page and twitter account which will facilitate student ideas while not having to deal with university affiliated regulations.

I interviewed for it my sophomore year. For me the online application led to a meet and greet type interview. That then led to a normal two on one interview. I knew as soon as a sat down for the two on one I was not going to get it based on the greeting of the people interviewing me. The next year they removed the t shirt requirement and changed a few other things I wanted anyways. Also, I agree they don't have much power anymore. So don't expect to make drastic changes if you get a position.

If needed, they could always suggest the idea informally or in passing to someone who is able to get it done.
It's self-limiting for leaders to fail to find ways around policies.

Co-option is how a lot of organizations get rid of revolutionaries. I say just keep doing cynadoalley things.

I think we need a Cyclone Fanatic Liaison on the CAC committee. It might help communication and we can do stuff like the flop

I don't see why we really need an official sponsored group though. I think all it does is limit and destroy the student section.

It's a grey area...but as long as you keep it relatively clean & harmless - the flopping, the booing that WVU player (which REALLY sounded cool, btw!), the University will probably wear blinders. If it becomes an embarrassment (picking a player and calling them a ******* the entire game (including holding up pictures of donkeys), or verbally abusing players & family members, they may not be quite so "oblivious".

I'm down for forming an informal group to actually do cool things in Cyclone Alley and I know there are quite a few other people that would do it.

I do kind of wonder why the students can't be a part of the selection process, though. Clearly they are dissatisfied with the students "leading" the Alley, but ISU can't afford to be seen to sponsor "attacks" on individual players from other teams (even something as innocuous as flopping). There must be some kind of compromise where the students feel that the committee is actually EARNING the front row seats...

And my idea would in no way involve that kind of harassment. Merely a way for students to bounce ideas off of one another without having the overbearing influence of a university affiliated organization. The CAC literally does nothing now to control what we do, so they don't hinder the gameday experience. But if they had (or if we establish) fewer rules to follow regarding what they can and can't organize it would be so much better.
